Job Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Digital Press Operator to produce high-quality printed labels that meet customer specifications and production standards. This role requires hands-on experience operating HP digital presses, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working second shift after completing first-shift training.
Key Responsibilities
Produce high-quality printed labels according to job specifications and customer standards
Read and interpret job orders; load jobs into the press with correct primers, tint rollers, stock, counts, and color strategies
Input accurate time, materials, and production data into job management software
Start and operate digital press, verifying stock alignment, color calibration, sizing, and print quality
Inspect printed materials for defects and make press adjustments as needed before and during production
Adjust color to ensure accuracy of finished product; X-Rite / i1 table knowledge is a plus
Cut and retain full samples from each printed job for ticket documentation and sample library
Assist with finishing operations as needed
Communicate job changes, issues, or delays to the supervisor promptly to minimize downtime
Report press or production downtime issues in a timely manner
Maintain accurate inventory usage records
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly press maintenance, including basic technician part changes
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping standards
Participate in training programs as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 2 years of experience operating an HP digital press in a printing environment
HP Level 2 certification or higher preferred, particularly with web press equipment (4-6 series)
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of digital press operations and color management
Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and measurement devices
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance
Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
