This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Structures Representative for our Antioch, California office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. The position can be located within the San Francisco Bay Area, greater Sacramento area, or the Central Valley.
The Structures Representative provides technical leadership for complex construction management projects or programs, serving as a Structures Representative supervising construction engineering and inspection activities. This person must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently making decisions on significant construction engineering problems. Elements to be inspected or monitored may include falsework, pile driving, cofferdams, cast-in-place concrete, waterproofing, structural steel, bearings, expansion joints, precast concrete elements, maintenance or traffic and other similar activities.
This is NOT a Structural Design Engineer role. A Structures Representative is a local agency employee (or a consultant hired by a local agency) who performs quality assurance over the contractor's work that involves structures and who performs the contract's necessary structure-related administrative tasks.
WSP has offices in Antioch, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Roseville, and Stockton. Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as roadway/highway and transit/rail construction.
Your Impact
* Reviewing and inspecting plans and calculations for: falsework; shoring; staging; bridge removal; and other technical submissions, on City, County, Caltrans and other State projects
* Responding to and effectively resolving field construction issues
* Conducting meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties
* Inspecting, documenting, and coordinating field test of construction materials
* Analyzing construction costs of changed conditions, drafting change orders, and recommending claims dispositions
* Preparing constructability reviews and reports
* Assumes responsibility for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
* Supervises field inspection and field office personnel
* Represents projects at meetings and conferences
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Who You Are

* BSCE or related Degree
* Current California PE license

Be an interdisciplinary leader, managing project teams that bring together financial analysts, urban designers, architects, legal compliance professionals, land use planners, and grant funding experts to bring client opportunities to market, execute joint development agreements and real estate transactions, and maximize their financial returns.
Lead large-scale, complex projects by clearly communicating contributor roles and deadlines, preparing and managing project budgets, monitoring both internal and external activities, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring performance standards and profitability, and overseeing subcontractors, external stakeholders, contract assignments, and staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Conduct on-site investigations to determine factors affecting community development and potential decline including land usage
* Account for traffic growth and manage solutions for common transportation needs
* Research best practices to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions from local businesses and warehouses
* Oversee project development and help in providing affordable housing
* Plan and design townships and cities promoting healthy and active lifestyles
* Protect and preserve historical monuments and sites
* Assist in planning and reviving low socio-economic areas within the district
* Meet with industry experts to determine appropriate Disaster Risk Assessment plans for Emergency Management

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in planning, public policy or a related field
* 10+ years of related experience
* Ability to analyze demographic data and identify trends in employment, health and other areas
* Experience working in various database software programs including Microsoft Suite
* Exceptional communication skills used when meeting with officials and presenting new plans
* Detailed understanding of federal and local government programs and processes
* Experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) software
* Ability to conceptualize large-scale plans and established required milestones to complete projects
* Professional work experience using a combination of creative and technical concepts in problem-solving
* Full-scale understanding of the social and environmental effects of proposed plans and the best practices in design aesthetics
* Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
* Availability and willingness to travel

Base salary range:
$122,400 to $149,600 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Washington markets.
Working conditions:
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
