Key Responsibilities:

Using a variety of trauma informed techniques, the Youth Stabilization Specialists provide crisis prevention and de-escalation services to youth ages 12-18 and actively engage youth in activities of daily living including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and transportation. Youth Stabilization Specialists collaborate with the clinical treatment team by supporting behavioral interventions and providing daily feedback. Our goal is to provide intensive, short term mental health treatment and care that will enable the client to self-regulate their behavior and begin to process and cope with their trauma so that they may either ‘step-down' to a lower level of care or qualify for home placement.
Qualifications
Essential Functions:

Stabilization and Engagement
1. Provide Trauma Informed supervision of, and support to, youth ages 12-18 in a safe and secure environment
2. Working collaboratively with the Clinical Team, implement Trauma Informed interventions outlined in the client treatment plan, supporting the social, emotional, and mental health wellness goals of the client
3. Support clients in meeting their individual goals and target behaviors and in following their behavioral change contracts
4. Attend and participate in Client Therapy/Counseling Groups
5. Actively participate in crisis prevention
6. Apply physical restraint as a last resort to protect clients from self harm, or harm to/from others
7. Be extremely reliable and punctual in order to ensure continuity of care
8. Sustain a consistent attitude of friendliness and utilize open communication with all coworkers to ensure team effectiveness
Activities of Daily Living
1. Actively engage clients in social skills, vocational skills, recreational skills and daily living skill activities including housekeeping, yard care, laundry, cooking, hygiene, sports/leisure activities, school, etc., per program and supervisory guidelines and as related to the overall client treatment plan
2. Distribute and document, per Agency standards, client medication
Professional Development
1. Enthusiastically engage with scheduled weekly training in order to develop an intrinsic knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, and to improve knowledge, skill, and expertise. Dedicate yourself to becoming excellent at your job.
2. Work collegially and collaboratively with all staff, particularly at staff, team, treatment, and other meetings.
Documentation
1. Monitor and document behavioral changes and incidents using a variety of tools including logs, reports, progress notes, notification phone calls, etc. Facilitate open communication with Clincial Team, Substance Abuse Prevention and Education (SAPE) Team, and Commercial Sexual Explointation of Children (CSEC) Team.
2. Complete all necessary documentation, including shift logs, Incident Reports and progress notes, client point sheets, staff changeover meetings, Special Incident Reports, cottage calendars, memos, Medical Incident Reports, case note binders, individual meetings, etc. in a detailed, comprehensive, and timely manner.
3. Engage in any required and assigned bookkeeping such as client allowances, petty cash for social skills and treatment activities, purchase orders and other related tasks
4. Inventory food, clients clothing and possessions etc., in order to maintain appropriate needs of the clients
5. Maintain client files
6. Other Duties as Assigned
Job Qualifications:
Youth Stabilization Specialists, according to state licensing requirements, must meet one of the following seven qualifications:
1. A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree.
2. A valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
3. Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology and have at completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.

4. A valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth.
5. A valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
6. Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
7. Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
Additionally, Youth Stabilization Specialists must have
1. Experience de-escalating crisis behaviors with youth who have experienced significant trauma using behavioral and relationship-based intervention
2. Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children served in a children's residential setting
3. Skills and ability to engage and develop rapport with children who have diverse backgrounds
4. Skills and ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions

8. Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook. Specific skills in software systems as required by position, such as KaleidaCare
9. Awareness and sensitivity to the cultures represented in San Joaquin County
10. Reliable transportation, valid California Driver License, proof of valid auto insurance, a DMV driving record printout with no more than two (2) minor violations and use own car for travel
11. Ability to lift supplies up to 25 lbs. to waist height
12. Fingerprint clearance required
13. Must pass a basic physical examination to demonstrate physical, mental and occupational competence to perform assigned tasks under guidance, supervision and direction of the supervisory staff

Job Overview: Under the supervision of the Youth Coordinator, the In-School Youth Specialist is responsible for Refugees Empowering Peers (REP) service provision and outcomes, including screening referrals from teachers, client processing and enrollment, curriculum development, providing assessments, creating individualized service plans, case management including client success coaching towards youth goals, referrals to community organizations for care givers, follow up services, and financial requests. This role will also be responsible to coordinate school enrollments for newly arrived youth including working with families to ensure youth are enrolled into and attending school. The position will also be responsible to provide additional recommendations for student support on campus.
The Youth Specialist will develop relationships with local school districts and site staff, including building rapport, learning about opportunities on campus, and connecting youth to appropriate staff for support. Youth Specialist will be responsible to provide teachers with a clear understanding of REP objectives and enrollment criteria along with a clear referral process. The Youth Specialist will be responsible for enrolling clients into REP, ensuring that each site meets enrollment number requirements, and assigning mentors to each youth. They will be responsible to develop goal maps with each youth and provide guidance to mentors on how to follow up on the plans monthly to ensure progression towards goals. The Youth Specialist will also train mentors on related skills and processes. All activities will advance skill acquisition and support school engagement and progression. This role will oversee the development and implementation of REP workshops aimed to support education, life skills development, employment information, and skills assessments. In addition, the Youth Specialist will be responsible for overseeing progress made through mentoring programs and will report findings through maintaining casefiles, case notes across ETO, and internal tracking systems.
Additionally, Youth Specialist will support with school enrollments- working alongside IRC's Community Integration Team, the specialist will work with newly arrived families to enroll students into proper schools. Specialist will meet with students and families to go over US school norms, expectations for school, and answer any questions the family may have. The specialist will work directly with the school to connect the students to resources and appointments needed for their new school.
Major Responsibilities:
Client Outreach & External Partnership Development
Identify appropriate teachers to partner with for REP youth referrals and communicate the goals of the program and students to be referred to the teachers.
Implement and improve recruiting strategies to increase student participation.
Communicate with families and provide additional support and referrals to resources as needed.
Build rapport with school staff to understand breadth of opportunities available at school-site and connect newly enrolled youth to appropriate on-campus support.
Act as a liaison between the IRC, clients, and schools to provide a seamless enrollment process and connection to resources on campus.
Case Management
Conduct intakes, assessments, and enrollments then provide intensive one-on-one case management and navigation services to youth, prepare individualized service plans and goal maps with youth and care givers that detail steps needed to achieve education and employments goals, and conduct follow up to ensure participants are on-track.
Compile documentation on services provided and client outcomes in casefiles and case management database.
Assess, evaluate, and track students' individualized service plan progress.
Customize clients' resumes and supporting documentation to fit identified opportunities.
Ensure all clients comply with the policies of the program and report client progress.
Motivate clients to complete key items on their goal maps, attend mentoring, and take actions towards accomplish their short-term goals.
Refer family needs identified in service plan meetings to appropriate IRC and external partnership programs.
Facilitation & Teaching
Plan and implement engaging and educational REP Mentoring workshops and life skills development activities to ensure youth clients are active in the program and motivated towards completing shared goals.
Command a room of 25+ high school English Learners after school for 90 minutes with the support of volunteer mentors. Ensuring clear messaging, teaching, and a safe and healing learning environment.
Contribute to new curriculum topics and adaptations to the needs of individual school sites.
Collect and encourage student voice and advocacy in program implementation and lesson topics.
Train and place volunteers to support mentoring activities.
Program reporting and administration
Complete internal direct assistance and incentive financial request according to program guidelines and client need.
Review, request, and reconcile supportive services.
Ensure timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements including database management, case noting, and file maintenance; and data reports as requested.
Collect, aggregate, and analyze performance data for initial program reports.
Conduct quality assurance checks on casefiles and in ETO.
Create new program forms and create manuals to capture best practices for program services.
Participate in all meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team.
Align with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency.

School Enrollments
Work directly with newly arrived families to enroll all eligible students into school, keeping track of all documentation and immunization requirements.
Conduct home visits to educate families and students on school norms, expectations, and answer any questions.
Conduct Youth Cultural Orientation sessions.
Work with schools for specific school enrollment information, start date, and any additional counselor or support appointments needed.
Complete timely and accurate case notes for all services administered to youth.

Job Overview: The Senior Youth Advocacy Specialist is responsible for delivering youth services under the Elevate Youth program. The Senior Youth Advocacy Specialist will have oversight of the Elevate Youth program, Youth Leadership Council (YLC), and program deliverables. Outreach and Enrollment

POSITION HOURS:
30 - 40hrs, shifts are 10hrs each and the employee can elect whether they work 3 or 4 shifts per week. i
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
21 years of age or older
Experience with population served preferred.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Background Check with Live Scan fingerprinting
Health screening and Tuberculosis (TB) test.
COVID Vaccination strongly encouraged but not required.
Position requires driving so valid, unrestricted CA driver's license, personal automobile liability insurance, and insurability by our insurance carrier.

Monday - Sunday, 1pm - 11pm
Saturday and Sunday 8am - 6pm
Employees choose 3-4 10hr shifts per week
30-40hrs per week depending on employees' availability.
