Find a Job You Really Want In
Happy National Egg Month. That’s right, the month of May is the highly serious, highly celebrated month of eggs.
Since eggs are one of our favorite workday fuels, we set out to find each state’s favorite way to eat eggs.
You can see how we found out each state’s favorite way to eat an egg and some of our favorite findings below.
Most Interesting Findings
- Scrambled eggs are the most popular way to eat eggs by far.
- 18 states love scrambled eggs the best.
- Sunny side up is second most popular with 14 states digging the cheerful (if less healthy) concoction.
- 8 states made the unfortunate choice of poached eggs.
- Hard boiled eggs may be the darling of Easter, but no states likes them best.
- Same for over medium eggs, people go soft or they go hard, but no one goes medium apparently.
How We Figured This Out
Using Google Trends, we determined what egg preparation each state eats a disproportionate amount. We looked at 8 common ways to cook an egg (all arguably delicious.) From there, we determined what ebis searched a disproportionately, high amount in each state.
For example, while New Jersey eats their eggs all sorts of ways, the search interest in “Sunny Side Up” is disproportionately higher than the remaining states- making “Sunny Side Up” more popular in New Jersey than all other types of eggs.
We looked at a full year of egg searches, giving each state full opportunity to google, “how to make a poached egg” and such.
Egg-cellent
We’re not going to tell you how to celebrate National Egg Month.
That hefty responsibility sits on your shoulders alone. And since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it’s a hefty responsibility indeed. After all, does an over easy egg set you up for an easy day? Will hard boiled leave you dealing with some difficult situations? It’s a real breakfast dilemma, but probably not.
However, if you want a safe, popular option, scrambled is clearly the way to go.
