Material Handler - Shipping/Receiving Department: Warehouse/Logistics Pay Rate: $21-22/hour Shift: First Shift (6:00am - 2:00pm), Monday - Friday Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
POSITION SUMMARY
Handle all incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure efficient material flow throughout the facility. Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to load/unload trucks, stage materials for production, and maintain organized warehouse operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping & Receiving:
Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders
Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies
Prepare outgoing shipments including packing, labeling, and staging for pickup
Coordinate with carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight companies) for pickups and deliveries
Generate shipping documentation, bills of lading, and packing lists
Inventory & Material Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct cycle counts
Stage raw materials for production departments
Organize warehouse storage areas for efficient material flow
Track material movements and update inventory systems
Perform stock rotation (FIFO) to prevent material expiration
Identify and report inventory shortages or overages
Equipment Operation & Safety:
Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up) and other material handling equipment safely
Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections
Maintain clean and organized dock and warehouse areas using 6S principles
Follow all safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and PPE requirements
Secure loads properly to prevent damage during transport
Documentation & Communication:
Process shipping and receiving paperwork accurately
Communicate with purchasing, production, and customer service departments
Report damaged goods, shortages, or quality issues immediately
Maintain filing systems for shipping/receiving documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
1-2 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience required
Required Skills:
Forklift operation experience (sit-down and/or stand-up)
Basic computer skills for inventory management systems
Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and organizational skills
Basic math skills for counting and verifying quantities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 50 pounds regularly

+ Perform inspection of manufactured equipment/components for Material identification markings and inventory (kick and count type inspection) and provide reports to NAVY.
+ Perform onsite evaluation of vendor's manufacture, assembly, repair and testing processes for contract and specification compliance.
+ Provide evaluation, trouble shooting and investigation of Submarine Sail HM&E Systems and Equipment problems/issues and recommend possible solutions to solve problems/issues.
+ Review and investigate non-conformances and discrepancies found during disassembly inspections, manufacture, repair/modifications, assembly and testing phases and provide possible corrective and preventative action recommendations to adjudicate.
+ Perform surveillance observations/oversight of shipboard and in shop in-process SUBSAFE work/testing.
+ Develop and maintain checklist/attribute guides for performing SUBSAFE Functional and In-Process Audits of OII-MSD's quality system and SUBSAFE work/testing.
+ Responsible for the review and audit of Re-Entry Control (REC) and Task Group Instructions (TGI) and associated Objective Quality Evidence packages for compliance to SUBSAFE requirements and specifications

Responsibilities The Machinery Controls Systems Engineer will provide lifecycle support of fielded and future Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer. This includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support. The USS ARLEIGH BURKE MCS is comprised of several variants spanning various technologies. The newest technology variant focuses on industry standard commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment inclusive of ruggedized computers and programmable logic controller (PLC) systems.
**PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes, but is not limited to:
+ Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment
+ Provide technical input to the design of future MCS systems
+ Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements for future fielded systems
+ Troubleshooting complex problems of future fielded systems (PLC based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard
+ Review of technical documentation related to future fielded systems
+ Provide test support at LBES
+ Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support at LBES and shipboard during modernization availabilities
+ Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of future fielded systems
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or any Engineering degree is required
+ 6+ months of experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems or the ability to take various PLC classes for familiarity.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.
