The Opportunity
The External Communications Specialist plays a key role in enhancing and protecting Arup's brand and reputation. You will lead and contribute to the creation of strategic content and communications campaigns that tell Arup's story and secure media coverage aligned with regional market priorities. Your work spans mass media outlets-news agencies, newspapers, broadcast-as well as trade titles of strategic importance, with amplification across Arup's owned channels.
You will collaborate closely with regional and global media relations colleagues, business leaders, marketers, and partners to drive earned media efforts and support leadership visibility and expert positioning. You also serve as conduit to for crisis communications and reputation management, connecting the business with the team's expert guidance when needed.
* Develop and execute earned media programs aligned with Arup's market-facing goals, integrating them into broader MCBD campaigns.
* Drive and coordinate external communications efforts to elevate Arup's visibility in priority media outlets and other strategic channels.
* Support the advisory of regional marketers, business leaders, and partners on maximizing the newsworthiness of announcements and research.
* Bring, build and maintain relationships with journalists to secure impactful coverage.
* Localize and amplify global media initiatives to optimize relevance and reach in the South geography.
* Collaborate on global campaign planning and execution, supporting corporate and leadership media activity as needed.
* Contribute to the creation of strategic media assets (press releases, toolkits, Q&As, visuals) to support global storytelling.
* Ensure message consistency and local relevance in partnership with the wider communications team.
* Prepare senior leaders for media engagements, offering counsel on risk navigation and message delivery.
* Monitor media coverage and share insights on Arup's visibility, reputation, and opportunities.
* Liaise with legal to identify and manage emerging reputation risks.
* Share regional context, metrics, and best practices with the global external communications community.

You are a strategic and driven external communications professional with a talent for translating technical content into compelling stories for external audiences. You have experience proactively identifying media opportunities and you know how to tell and land stories that resonate.
* Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Architecture / Built environment / Design studies, Urban planning, Liberal Arts or related field.
* Membership of a relevant professional body is encouraged.
* Minimum of 3 years of external communications experience with a focus on PR/media relations. Media relationship experience across Texas and Latin America, a plus.
* Experience in working in a Communications or media relations/PR team with an experience in AEC businesses that engage with media.
* Have successfully contributed to the delivery of multichannel campaigns across the market, including packing content for media and trade outlets.
* Strong organization and project management skills with ability to develop and implement communications strategies and tactics in partnership with team and experts.

Required Education:

POSITION OVERVIEW: As an ESOP Operations Specialist at LJA Business Solutions, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial and operational functions of our company's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role will focus on ESOP operations and serve as the company's in-house expert for all ESOP-related matters.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ESOP accounting, proven experience managing large plan operations, and familiarity with engineering or architecture business models.
Our firm generates over $500 million in annual revenue and supports approximately 3,000 ESOP participants.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
Oversee the administration of the internally leveraged ESOP, ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
Manage the accounting and tracking of ESOP cash flows, including amortization schedules and note payment activity.
Coordinate the ESOP valuation process, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery to external valuation firms.
Manage ESOP-related cash flows, including company contributions, outflows, and share allocations.
Forecast and track repurchase obligations (RPO), and coordinate periodic RPO studies with third-party advisors.
Manage annual ESOP census activities
Serve as primary liaison to external ESOP service providers including ERISA counsel, independent fiduciaries, TPAs, and valuation firms.
Maintain internal schedules and records to support ESOP audits, financial reporting, and Board reporting.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

We are seeking a Protection & Control Settings Engineer with technical experience in the application of protection settings for HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation projects for electric utilities, contractors and developers.
This position can be worked out of our Houston, Dallas or Austin offices.
The opportunity:
* Perform system protection setting calculation, development of relay logic diagrams, and protection coordination on various substation projects up to 500kV voltage level.
* Develop design basis documentation for protective settings, relay settings calculations and generate native relay configuration files using SEL AcSELerator, GE EnerVista and/or similar vendor software.
* Apply industry standards for the protection of system equipment, including power buses, power transformers, HV/MV circuit breakers, capacitor banks, reactors, transmission lines, and distribution feeders.
* Perform power system modeling and protective relay coordination analysis using ASPEN OneLiner or Siemens CAPE, ETAP, SKM, and/or CYME software.
* Prepare design calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection and coordination, and relay loadability calculation.
* Provide engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations.

The skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
* Proven 4+ years experience in development of protection relay setting for transmission substations.
* Knowledge of FERC and NERC requirements as they pertain to electric utility reliability requirements.
* Experience in power systems modeling and protective relay coordination analysis using ASPEN OneLiner or Siemens CAPE, ETAP, SKM, CYME software. Ability to perform Arc Flash and other power system studies is preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret protection single lines, three lines, schematics, functional diagrams, etc.
* Experience with IEC61850 and its implementation is preferred.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
* Excellent communication skills - able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Ability to represent the company credibly.
* The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment.
