The Department of Family Medicine in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) announces the search for a fixed term faculty member to strengthen our health services research in collaboration with a partner health system, Trinity Health. This collaboration aims to explore the barriers and facilitators to integrating evidence-based interventions into unique healthcare settings while pursuing opportunities to disseminate sustainable system-wide enhancements. This position is supported through funding provided by Trinity Health.
The Department and Trinity Health share several research areas of interest, providing an opportunity for this position to benefit from the expertise of both organizations. Current areas of research and programming include health and the environment, system adaptations to support the health and wellness of patients and providers, brain health and healthy aging, and interventions to support patients with histories of trauma and/or chronic conditions, including those from pediatric and disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal of this partnership is to implement effective practices, policies and programs that address health challenges, enhance access to care, and ultimately promote better overall health outcomes for all community members.
Successful applicants will possess a background in health services research, epidemiology, public health or a related field. While all areas of specialization related to health services and population health research will be considered, we are especially interested in applicants focused on health challenges, the prevention and management of chronic and behavioral health issues, and community-engaged and/or implementation research. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, etc.) The primary location for this position is Grand Rapids, MI.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of success in securing external funding for past projects. The faculty of the Department of Translational Neuroscience seek a motivated neuroscientist with a track record of scholarship in age-related neurodegenerative disease. While Translational Neuroscience hopes to enhance its faculty scholarship in Parkinson's disease (PD) and other synucleinopathies, discipline experts in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias or beyond are also encouraged to apply.
Currently, Translational Neuroscience consists of fifteen faculty with particularly strong foci in Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies and Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. Labs employ model systems ranging from cell, to invertebrate, to rodent models. Areas of investigation for the Parkinson's team's span alpha-synuclein biology, neuroinflammation, levodopa-induced dyskinesias, deep brain stimulation, environmental exposure, and aging contributors to degeneration. The Alzheimer's team's expertise spans tau and amyloid biology, neuroinflammation, transcriptomic and proteomics, cell and animal model development, disease biomarkers and novel therapeutics.
The successful candidate is expected to bring or develop an independent, nationally competitive research program that complements these larger neurodegenerative disease research portfolios while contributing to collaborations in service of larger program level projects, and the mentoring and didactic instruction of graduate trainees.

SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION: This Adjunct Faculty position supports instruction in allied health programs, including courses in Health and Human Services Case Management and Health Services Administration. Qualified candidates will possess professional experience in case management and/or hold a Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential. The ideal candidate will be available to teach both asynchronous (on-demand) courses and live-streamed courses scheduled on weekday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. While candidates local to the Grand Rapids, MI or Metro Detroit areas are preferred, highly qualified candidates from other locations will also be considered.
RESPONSIBILITY OVERVIEW:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Demonstrated knowledge in assigned teaching discipline.
* Teaches courses as contracted each session and proactively prepares for scheduled courses.
* Provide instructional opportunities for entire scheduled class time.
* Contribute positively to the advancement of academics through:

* Providing input and feedback on selected textbooks, instructional resources and electronic materials.
* Use of digital learning technology including learning management system (eg. Blackboard), publisher provided digital resources and other technology as required.
* Conduct classes in accordance with established course outlines and approved instructional materials.
* Guide students in their educational processes by referring them for assistance regarding their program/schedules, academic progress, specialized services within the University, and/or up-to-date information about educational/occupational opportunities.
* Be accessible to assist students with questions and in completion of assignments as delineated in the course syllabus, including ADA accommodations.
* Access information on current issues through University communications (i.e. e-mail and print correspondence, website, and publications).
* Engage with various college and campus activities including attendance at a faculty kick-off, advisory board and other meetings as requested.
* Maintain all records-student/classroom/department (i.e. grades, attendance, Excellence System, etc.)- in compliance with University guidelines.
* Maintain and demonstrate a positive approach that provides for innovation, personal growth and professional development.
* Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

QUALIFICATION HIGHLIGHTS

While Translational Neuroscience hopes to enhance its faculty scholarship in Parkinson's disease (PD) and other synucleinopathies, discipline experts in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias or beyond are also encouraged to apply.
Currently, Translational Neuroscience consists of fifteen faculty with particularly strong foci in Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies and Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. Labs employ model systems ranging from cell, to invertebrate, to rodent models. Areas of investigation for the Parkinson's team's span alpha-synuclein biology, neuroinflammation, levodopa-induced dyskinesias, deep brain stimulation, environmental exposure, and aging contributors to degeneration. The Alzheimer's team's expertise spans tau and amyloid biology, neuroinflammation, transcriptomic and proteomics, cell and animal model development, disease biomarkers and novel therapeutics.
The successful candidate is expected to bring or develop an independent, nationally competitive research program that complements these larger neurodegenerative disease research portfolios while contributing to collaborations in service of larger program level projects, and the mentoring and didactic instruction of graduate trainees.

Teaching: Teach three graduate level clinical counseling courses/semester. A summer
