The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, housed in the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) at New York Medical College invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, contingent upon the qualifications of the candidate. For this position, experienced faculty with an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or similar) and a record of higher education teaching and research/scholarship are preferred. However, recent graduates of doctoral degree programs (PhD, EdD or similar) will be considered, as will be DPT-prepared candidates with clinical specialties who do not hold an academic doctoral degree, and evidence of the capacity to develop a research/scholarly agenda.
Strong education and research ties exist between the Division of Physical Therapy and the Division of Speech Language Pathology, the Department of Public Health, and the Institute of Public Health. The program is proud to have been one of the first in the nation to offer an embedded DPT/MPH dual degree option. The NYMC Doctor of Physical Therapy program is in a unique position to prepare students for physical therapy roles in public health. Additionally, the program utilizes the NYMC Clinical Skills and Simulation Center for teaching and learning.

Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor of Social Work rank. The ideal candidate will also assume the role of Program Director of our accredited Master of Social Work (MSW) program. In addition to the 10-month faculty position, the Program Director will oversee the Department's Master of Social Work (MSW) program specializing in children, youth and families, which includes an in-person track and an online track, which will be launched this fall. The Program Director is also asked to assume summer directorial responsibilities, with appropriate compensation, to maintain coherence and direction of the program. We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in administration, teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. The successful candidate will teach 6 to 12 credits annually in the MSW program. Major responsibilities in the Program Director role include:
Providing leadership, management and oversight for the MSW program to assure quality and integrity of the academic program, curriculum, services, and operations.
Implementing and administering the daily operations and policies for the MSW program.
Ensuring compliance with CSWE accreditation
Developing, implementing, and supporting efforts to maximize student progression, retention and graduation through the MSW program.
Providing leadership and oversight to staff.

Position Summary:

Serve as a small group facilitator in Phase 1 of the M.D. Degree Program.

Participate in student remediation plans as needed.
Participate in ongoing curricular continuous quality improvement efforts.

Position Summary:
All Teaching Faculty members shall: Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources; and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Dean or Chair of the department, this AssistantProfessor is expected to teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in the discipline area of study. Additional duties may include evaluating and assessing student learning; providing student support and academic advising; planning and executing program-related events; assisting with program reviews; developing curriculum and periodically evaluating teaching materials; and attending workshops and or conferences to maintain currency in profession and field. The teaching schedule may include both day and evening classes. Course delivery systems may be lecture, hybrid, and/or online.
The Program Coordinator is also expected to recruit, advise and retain students in these areas; select appropriate part-time instructors; schedule the program courses; hire and evaluate faculty; establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers; arrange and supervise internships; assess and improve the program; and other such duties as may be appropriately assigned to a Program Coordinator in accordance within the contract hours and with regard to the collective bargaining agreement. Release time is based on collective bargaining agreement to perform administrative functions.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; service on assigned committees and task forces; and attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.
