Australian International School company history timeline

2002

2002 After a further five and a half years, the school finally secured land to construct a purpose built campus at Lorong Chuan, the current site, with Mr Peter Bond as Principal.

2006

Australian International School (AIS) first opened its doors in August 2006 with a secondary campus in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam.

2007

The newly named Lotus and Cherry Blossom parts of AIS’s Thao Dien Campus, together with a brand-new adjacent Sports Centre, opened in August 2007.

2007 AIS was purchased by COGNITA

2008

2008 A Junior School and Preschool were constructed to house children from Preschool to Year 2 at an outstanding purpose-built facility.

2009

A new, stand-alone Kindergarten was built and opened in Xi Riverview, Thao Dien, in August 2009.

2010

2010 A new Senior building opened to accommodate Year 10, 11 and 12 students.

2011

In 2011, a new Senior building was opened to accommodate Year 10, 11 and 12 students.

2012

In January 2012, Dr Nick Miller, a former principal of YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College, took over as Principal of AIS, and the School moved to a new school structure with two sub-schools: Elementary School (Preschool, Junior School and Primary School) and Secondary School.

2014

In March 2014, Dr Nick Miller announced his resignation as the Principal of AIS. At the end of 2014, Andre Casson took over as Principal of AIS.

2016

2016 Mr Simon Leslie commenced as Head of School.

2018

2018 Mr Andre Casson was appointed Head of School at AIS following Mr Simon Leslie's departure and Dr Edward Groughan was appointed Principal at AIS.

2019

In 2019, AIS Vietnam and ACG Schools joined Inspired, one of the leading global groups of premium schools.

2020

The following year, in 2020, AIS became the first premium international school in Vietnam to offer Boarding, with brand new facilities in its Thu Thiem Campus to house 50 students.

2021

2021 Dr Edward Groughan appointed to Head of School and Adam Paterson promoted to Principal
