PRIMARY PURPOSE: To work with the other employees in the department performing the duties necessary to keep the district campus grounds in an aesthetic and well-preserved manner, which will provide clean and well-groomed campus grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
● Perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
● Assist in performing the semi-skilled labor type of assigned duties designated by the grounds foreman.
● Direct the work activities of a crew performing grounds keeping activities.
● Responsible for the care and maintenance of the crew's vehicle, tools, and equipment.
● Inspect completed tasks for compliance with department and District expectations.
● Maintain written records of daily activities.
● Practice high standards of safety and good housekeeping in all work-related areas.
● Move furniture, equipment, etc., as needed.
● Perform other duties assigned by the grounds foreman.

Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Working knowledge of grounds keeping and the equipment needed to perform the work.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability and knowledge of the use of the equipment used in the performance of the duties of grounds maintenance.
Ability to work in a team environment and work with minimal supervision.
Possess at least a Class C Texas driver license and qualify for insurability with the District insurance carrier.
Aptitude to successfully complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work with and get along with other employees and campus personnel.
Adequate health to perform essential functions of the position.
Ability to lift and carry 50 or more pounds without assistance.
Ability to direct the work activities of a crew in the performance of the above-mentioned duties.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.
Ability to comprehend and correctly follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to prepare written reports that are a necessary function of this assignment.
