Carpenter REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Building & Grounds ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The position is accountable for performing skilled woodworking duties in the construction, alteration and repair of structures, buildings, fixtures, equipment and other articles made of wood and similar material. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: The position is accountable for the following end result: 1. Construct, install, maintain, and repair woodwork such as cabinets, bookcases, shelves, doors, window frames, partitions, and furniture, matching materials for color, grain, and texture. 2. Repair window sashes, replace hardware and glass, and perform related carpentry tasks. 3. Fabricate and repair furnishings including shelving, work tables, and counters. 4. Install, maintain, repair, and replace door locks, hinges, latches, closures, and other door hardware. 5. Work with various materials including wood, drywall, metal studs, and sashes. 6. Perform carpentry work in compliance with City of Worcester Building Codes and standard trade practices. 7. Measure, saw, square, sand, fit, and fasten materials to complete assignments successfully. 8. Plans, organizes and lays out tasks; interprets plans, diagrams, blue prints, sketches and specifications; performs tasks from verbal and written instructions and work orders. 9. Estimates material requirements from drawings, blueprints, or written instructions. 10. Performs maintenance on shop equipment and tools. 11. Assesses labor, material and equipment needed for assigned projects; monitors inventory levels of materials and equipment. 12. Assists in post construction inspections, project planning and evaluation, and coordination or work with other trades. 13. Receive and respond to work orders, ensuring compliance with building, health, and safety codes; maintain accurate records of work performed including labor and materials using the district's computerized maintenance management software (CMMS); and complete and close out CMMS work orders appropriately. 14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Minimum 5-8 years full time experience as a carpenter. 2. Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate 3. Must possess a Valid Massachusetts State driver's license. 4. Must pass a CORI/SORI Background check. 5. Must possess a valid Massachusetts riggers license. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 2. Required to work at heights or in narrow spaces to service equipment. 3. Required to stand for prolonged periods. 4. Periodically required to lift and carry heavy supplies or equipment. 5. Occasionally required to wear protective clothing. 6. Occasionally required to work outdoors in inclement weather. 7. Stage Carpenters are a member of either the TST, DDT, or HJL production teams and report to that theater's Production Manager. During the pre-season the Stage Carpenters assist the Stage Operations Supervisor with the preparation and installation of stage operations equipment including but not limited to rigging, flooring, staging, seating, and soft goods. During the Festival they work closely and collaboratively with the Production Managers and the staff of visiting companies as a member of the run crew for load-in, rehearsals, and performances. They also assist the Production Managers and the Stage Operations Supervisor with the organization and maintenance of their venue's stage operations infrastructure, storage areas, and equipment. Job DescriptionDescription: We are a leader in Millwork, Cabinet and Fixture Installations seeking experienced and enthusiastic working Lead Finish Carpenters who can perform in a diverse range of situations overseeing and installing fixtures, casework and millwork in commercial and retail environments. “We have traveling positions available. If you are looking for stability, outstanding compensation and want to work for a Leader in our Industry, please contact us now.” Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience: Five (5) years fixture installation and retail or commercial finish carpentry experience. One (1) year minimum supervisory experience. Certification(s): OSHA10 or 30, Forklift, aerial lift (Company will provide if necessary). Technology: Able to download and use APPS on phone and mobile devices. Able to make electronic submissions though company portal. Physical Demands: Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, work from an aerial lift. Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting and squatting. Work with materials over your head for short durations. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Must be able to pass a Drug Screening, Criminal Background Check and MVR screening for approved driving status. Must be able to complete a Company Sponsored CPR/First Aid Training course online. Available to work overtime as needed. Our typical workweek is 40 to 60 hours. Be flexible to work non-conventional shifts when required (some overnight projects may occur). Able to travel and be away from home for durations from 2-8 weeks depending on our contract. Must provide own basic hand tools and cordless drill. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS · Able to complete onsite millwork, cabinet and countertop, fixture, graphic and décor installs in commercial and retail environments. · Personnel management of various crew sizes ranging from 3-6 employees or larger projects of 8 or more employees. · Able to receive, stage and manage large inventory of millwork and fixture parts for distribution and installation. · Able to evaluate site conditions, construction and delivery schedules and when these factors are not aligned, clearly and effectively communicate to Project Management Team, onsite contractor or when necessary, our client. · Able to establish and understand layouts for millwork, fixtures and other elements. · Must always represent the company in a professional manner. Measure, cut, and fit materials with guidance from lead carpenter. Assist with mounting shelves and leveling parts. Keep job sites clean and organized during and after installation.
