We have crews in Kane County (Aurora, Gilberts, Elgin), Kendall County (Yorkville, Oswego), Will County (Joliet, Plainfield, Tinley Park, New Lenox) and Kankakee County (Kankakee, Bourbonnais) and will do our best scheduling to keep you close to home. Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with opportunities for overtime. Full time, year round, w2 position. Pay is based on experience, $18-35 per hour. Foreman, Hardware & Service, and Rail & Stair Install leads drive a company vehicle with tools and paid fuel. The carpenter will have an inventory of their own hand tools to use alongside company provided toolsand supplies. The work involved has physicalrequirements, which include bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Read and interpret blueprints, plans, sketches, design details or instructions from supervisors. Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders. Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure. Build stairs, mantles, and cabinetry. Install cabinets and molding. Replace and hang doors. Drill and set door hardware. Erect scaffolding. Install partitions, doors, and windows Maintain clean and orderly work areas. Cut, shape, and assemble wood, composition, and/or plastic sections with shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders, and various power saws. Assemble prepared components for various structures, including cabinets, bookcases, desks, and paneled doors. Prepare structures for finish applications by planing, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools. Maintain and clean equipment and work area. Perform related duties as assigned or needed. QUALIFICATIONS A carpenter must have knowledge of practices, procedures, tools and equipment, material, quality control, and safety. Carpenters construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal and wallboard using hand tools and power tools. Carpenters are expected to work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork. Specific tasks may include building rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions. This includes examining specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measuring boards, timbers or plywood using various tools. Carpenters must be proficient at sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and building framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings that are undergoing construction. Carpenters may also be required to erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways, install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in buildings, or weld parts to steel structural members.

Monitor project progress, identify any deviations from the plan, and implement corrective measures to ensure timely completion and quality control. Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth integration of drywall work into the overall construction process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily work logs, material usage, and labor hours, to facilitate project reporting and billing processes. Foster a positive working environment by effectively resolving conflicts, promoting teamwork, and upholding the principles of the union. Qualifications: 5-7 years of experience as a Drywall Foreman or similar role in a commercial construction environment. Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, layout and specifications related to commercial drywall projects. OSHA 30 preferred Familiar with the use of technology including but not limited to tablets and software platforms related to the construction industry. In-depth knowledge of commercial drywall, metal studs, exterior framing, acoustical ceiling installation, and finishing methods. Familiarity with union labor agreements, regulations, and safety standards in the construction industry. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
