Checks in-box and fax machine for physician or patient correspondence and assures prescriptions are completed in a timely manner. Follows up with patient, physician and/or insurance company regarding prescription issues including, but not limited to, refills, refill too soon, and Prior Authorization Requests (PAR). Notifies pharmacist of computer warnings, drug allergies, duplicate therapies, etc. Refers all patient medication concerns, new prescriptions and consultations to a Registered Pharmacist. Assures that all tasks are accomplished during shift. Documents refill authorizations from physician office according to system standards.
