ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support instruction and behavior interventions using ABA techniques such as prompting, positive reinforcement, discrete trial training (DTT), and task analysis as directed by the classroom teacher.

* Maintain accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s).
* Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
* Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is hosting two Pathway Summer Schools (PSS) for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science, sponsored by the Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS). The WDTS Pathway Summer Schools create innovative pathways for students with the goal of attracting young students from all backgrounds toward building a STEM talent pool. DOE WDTS PSS at PNNL programs focus on building science identity, enhancing STEM efficacy, and stimulating interest in learning and careers of importance to DOE mission.
The PNNL Office of STEM Education and Workforce Development (OSEWD) is seeking high school students interested in STEM studies or careers to participate in a 6-week, hands-on learning experience at our Richland campus this summer. Students of all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.
The internship runs from June 23, 2026 through July 29, 2026, and applicants must be available to start on June 23 and work 29 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Led by OSEWD and guided by a summer school team of mentors, including experienced researchers trained in STEM education, summer school students will
* Prepare for WDTS internships and STEM studies.
* Develop an understanding of PNNL's critical minerals and materials and artificial intelligence research portfolios in the WDTS PSS Critical Minerals and Materials Program.
* Develop an understanding of PNNL's energy, the power grid, and artificial intelligence research portfolios in the WDTS PSS Energy and the Grid Program.
* Develop a professional portfolio.

Academic Tutors assist students of WWCC with their coursework and or academic related needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to lead classroom daily activities with children and families.
Frequently, employee is required to walk, grasp, and push/pull up to 30lbs
Occasionally, sit, bend at knees, kneel/crawl, bend at waist, turn/pivot, balance, reach overhead, extend reach, pinch, lift up to 50lbs, and use hands, fingers for keyboarding.
Specific vision and speaking abilities required by this job include constant speaking/hearing in person and occasionally on the phone. Vision is required for observation of children and families in various environments
Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proof of physical exam within past 12 months (updated every three years)
One-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to start of employment, unless has written proof of a negative test within past 12 months. For those who have previously tested positive, documented proof of treatment from a doctor or a negative chest x-ray must be provided
Proof of MMR vaccine or positive MMR titer
Completion of Akin and DCYF criminal history background check, including registry with MERIT to include fingerprinting.

Language skills: Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, Somali
Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification and Food Handler's Permit
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The target starting pay for this position is $18.819 - $21.636 per hour, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant's pay history into account.
