    A3 is a 24-bed unit providing high-acuity care for cardiac and medical-surgical patients with various co-morbidities. We care for post-cardiac intervention patients (e.g., heart catheterizations, AAA stent repairs, TAVRs, EP ablations, pacemaker/ICD placements) and manage specialized devices like Impellasand IABPs,ArticSun and TabloXT. We also treat ventilator-dependent patients and those with conditions like hypertension, diabetes, GI bleeds, peripheral vasculardiseaseand renal disease. The unit handles multiple infusions for blood pressure, cardiac issues, thrombolytics, sedation and paralytics, as well as post-surgical ICU care. Our goal is to deliver exceptional, evidence-based care through teamwork and positive outcomes. Summary: The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. The Emergency Department of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg is a 12-bed unit organized and designed for the immediate treatment of emergency medical and/or surgical conditions. We have amedicalprovider 24 hours per day, with An Advance Practitioner 9 hours per day. The Emergency Departmenthadbeendesignateda Level IV Trauma Center by TexasDepartment of Health.The departmentis responsible forinitiatinglifesaving procedures in all types of emergency situations and for providing emergency care for other conditions, including chronic medical problems and minor injuries and illnesses.After emergency measures areimplemented,the patient may be transferred within the hospital, to another institution, or discharged home.Our average daily census is 60.The most frequent medical diagnoses seen are R/O Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Cardiovascular conditions, cardiopulmonary conditions, Diabetes Mellitus, Hepatitis, Pancreatitis,URIand Urosepsis.The most frequent surgical conditions are appendicitis, fracturedhipand spontaneous abortion.
