DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION The Utilities Department, one of the largest City departments with 828 employees, ten divisions, and an annual budget of $850 million, provides water, wastewater and solid waste management services. Our 10-year capital improvement program is nearly $6 billion. The treatment and distribution system consists of two water treatment plants, four wastewater treatment plants, 4,000 miles of water pipe and 3,000 miles of sewer pipe. Oklahoma City relies on water from two sources, the North Canadian River supply, and the Southeastern Oklahoma supply. Canton, Hefner and Overholser Reservoirs receive water from the North Canadian River. The Stanley Draper Reservoir receives water from the Atoka and McGee Creek Reservoirs located in southeast Oklahoma via a 100-mile, 60-inch pipeline. In 2019, we began constructing the second 100-mile, 72-inch Atoka Pipeline to provide additional capacity. Approximately 22 miles of pipeline have been built, and 42 miles are under construction. Three new pump stations are also under construction. The remainder will be bid later this year. The Program is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028. We continuously plan for future water supply needs and have secured additional water rights in southeast Oklahoma from the Sardis Reservoir in the Kiamichi River basin. The construction of a 30-mile pipeline connecting the Kiamichi River to the existing water supply system is anticipated to begin within the next several years. This position is member of a dedicated team of engineers who are ensuring that Oklahoma has a reliable water supply well into the future. This professional engineer supports the Raw Water, Reservoirs, Dams & Roads Section of the Engineering Division. JOB SUMMARY This position is located in Engineering Division of the Utilities Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is to analyze, evaluate, design, and execute engineering projects. The knowledge and skills required to efficiently and effectively apply engineering principles and practices to public-works projects must be acquired prior to assuming the position. Civil Engineer II is a fully functional professional engineering classification responsible for developing design specifications and establishing project requirements for projects that are moderate in scope.
