**About the role** As a Java / Actimize Lead, you will make an impact by driving the design, development, and delivery of high‑performance enterprise solutions supporting financial crime and AML platforms. You will be a valued member of our Technology & Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, architects, product owners, and Actimize SMEs across both onshore and offshore teams.
**In this role, you will:**
+ Lead and mentor a team of engineers while owning key technical decisions related to design, coding standards, and architecture.
+ Design and develop complex backend services using Java 17/21, Spring Boot, and modern microservice patterns.
+ Build and maintain integrations across Actimize SAM components, including workflows, scenarios, batch processes, and alert/case management services.
+ Optimize Oracle SQL/PLSQL queries, data models, and Unix-based automation processes to ensure system reliability and performance.
+ Partner with architecture, DevOps, and business stakeholders to enhance platform scalability, observability, CI/CD, and solution delivery.

**What you need to have to be considered**
+ 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3-5 years in a Technical Lead or Lead Developer capacity.
+ Strong hands‑on expertise with Java 17/21, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
+ Practical experience configuring and integrating with Actimize SAM, including workflows, scenarios, and batch processes.
+ Advanced skills in Oracle SQL/PLSQL, including query optimization and schema design.
+ Proficiency with Unix/Linux commands, shell scripting, and automation for batch scheduling.
+ Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
+ Deep understanding of system performance tuning, multithreading, memory management, and scalability.

+ Experience with event‑streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
+ Knowledge of cloud-native services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

+ Experience with observability tools such as ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana.
+ Strong leadership, mentoring ability, and comfort managing both hands‑on work and team technical guidance.
**Salary and Other Compensation:**
The annual salary for this position is between $81,000 - $141,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
