Ideal candidate is a motivated Computer Science Co-op student for a one-semester project focused on modernizing our data infrastructure. You will play a key role in transitioning a legacy Microsoft Access application into a robust, enterprise-grade solution. Co-op term --- JAN-26 to APR-26 Project Overview The primary goal of this internship is to decouple the front-end of a Microsoft Access database from its local storage and migrate the backend to SQL Server. Additionally, you will implement enterprise reporting and create cross-platform data integrations with our Oracle environment. Key Responsibilities Database Migration: Upsize existing Access tables to SQL Server, ensuring data integrity, proper data type mapping, and primary/foreign key preservation. Backend Optimization: Re-link Access front-end forms and logic to the new SQL Server backend using ODBC connections. Reporting Services: Migrate legacy Access reports to SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to provide web-based, automated reporting capabilities. Systems Integration: Develop queries or ETL processes to pull and synchronize data from an Oracle Database into the SQL Server environment. Testing & Documentation: Conduct unit testing to ensure the application's performance remains stable after the migration and document the new architectural schema. Technical Requirements Education: Currently enrolled in a BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. SQL Proficiency: Strong understanding of T-SQL (SQL Server) and basic familiarity with PL/SQL (Oracle). Database Tools: Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Microsoft Access.
