In this Role You Will:
Projects: Support, lead, or manage smaller automation, controls, and technology projects at manufacturing sites, including possible installation oversight. Collaborate with engineering and operations leaders from feasibility through startup and CQV (commissioning/qualification/verification).
Standards and Best Practices: Apply, maintain, and develop engineering standards to ensure consistency and compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, NEC, OSHA 1910. Communicate standards, guidance, and recommendations to engineering and controls personnel at the sites.
Vendor Engagement: Work closely with vendors to establish accurate quotations and resolving issues when needed. Leverage our internal resources to ensure terms and conditions are acceptable. Proactively engage with outside companies to explore new technologies.
Corporate Support: Provide C&IS support to operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Support MES and IS Operations when priorities align.
Automation Landscape: Understand current automation and technology state and drive targeted improvements, reapplications, and emerging technologies as part of the greater Operations Technology Team.
Expert in Key Technologies: Serve as the subject matter expert for key technologies, providing guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or 15+ years of equivalent plant experience
5+ years in controls/automation

Summary:

Primary responsibilities:
This job is an experienced level position where the responsibilities of the engineer can be broken down into 3 main categories:
1. Controls specifications and design. The engineer will need to specify necessary equipment for industrial automation applications in the areas of controls, robotics and power distribution within a work cell or line. The engineer will have the ability to translate those specifications into a deliverable controls drawing package. Experience in controls design with AutoCAD electrical or Eplan is a must for this position.
2. Offline programming. Programming of PLC, HMI/SCADA and robotics in off line programs in preparation for installation. This includes the use of software such as Rockwell Studio 5000, Omron CX Programmer, GE Cimplicity, Rockwell Factory Talk View, Fanuc Roboguide. While experience in all of this software is not required, an understanding of the offline programming process, and some of these software systems will be required.
3. Commissioning of the automation systems. Commissioning will take place on site at customer locations. Part of this responsibility is verification, and debug of the offline programs, or programs that have been supplied by others. Often times the customer site is not local, meaning travel will occur in this area of responsibility. Commissioning generally involves on site troubleshooting, and a support aspect where basic training of the systems to the operators, or management team is involved. Some electrical work will be involved here, as much of the commissioning process involves electrical wiring and troubleshooting of that wiring.

About the Role
The Maintenance Electrical Controls Technician performs complex technical work in the installation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and related electro-mechanical systems. This position will be responsible for PLC programming and control logic for automated equipment. This position also inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits, and provides an estimate of repair or replacement costs beyond the capability to perform. The Maintenance Electrician also calculates branch circuit loads, interprets electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determines methods and requirements for wiring circuits.
What You'll Do
Programs Variable Frequency Drives or Servo motor drives.
Performs electrical work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and related electro-mechanical systems.
Inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions.
Performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes.
Ensures that electrical distribution systems are safe, meet the requirements for electrical power, and comply with applicable codes by maintaining, modifying, and repairing those systems; monitoring, installing or replacing, and adjusting transformers to desired rated capacities in conformance with applicable electrical code requirements; calculating branch circuit loads, interpreting electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determining methods and requirements for wiring circuits.
Reduces the need to purchase new/replacement electric motors by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electric motors, determining the interchangeability of parts on non-repairable motors, salvaging those parts as a replacement parts inventory, and replacing starter switches, electrical leads, fuses, insulators, gears, bushings and bearings, and other inoperative components.
Provides technical assistance in the purchase of new or replacement electrical and electro-mechanical equipment or systems by reviewing and preparing equipment specifications, and advising the Maintenance Manager on equipment capability and compatibility, installation requirements and costs, and potential operations and maintenance expenses.
Follows all Company safety rules and regulations including LOTO and wears all required PPE.
Troubleshoots PLC programs and robotics.
Reads and understands maintenance work orders.
Accurately performs daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventative maintenance on plant equipment and machinery as required per established PM programs and completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Mentors and/or trains existing and/or new maintenance employees.
Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety protocols.
Able to work in a team environment to include relieving other employees in instances of breaks, absenteeism, vacation, or other production requirements.
Performs any other duties as assigned or directed by manager.
Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Additional Expectations

What You'll Bring
High School Diploma or GED required.
Certification or equivalent experience in electrical field.
4 years' prior maintenance experience required.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to stand and/or walk, bend, stoop, or crouch for at least an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment, or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
Knowledge of current OSHA, NEC, and ANSI standards
Must be able to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
Must be able to use electrical test equipment and small hand and power tools.
Must be computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
Ability to accurately use, read, and understand various precision instruments including, but not limited to: meters, meggers, and oscilloscopes.
Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives, PLCs, and HMIs.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment with accuracy and integrity.
Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce

Summary:
The Applications Engineer should have a solid understanding of creating plan drawings / blueprints utilizing AutoCAD or other similar software packages. Develop and maintain an understanding of fire suppression system design and components.

Consult with customers concerning submittal drawings and technical support issues relating to hood design and performance.
Occasionally create hood design information using Halton proprietary design software.
Occasionally create displacement design information using Halton proprietary design software.
Consult with customers concerning all Halton products.
Interpret and generate electrical schematics.
Troubleshoot problematic hood systems.
A thorough understanding of Halton UL and ETL listings.

Summary:

Hands on experience as ControlsEngineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems.

Qualifications
Proven knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Keyence PLC systems
Experience with deployment and use of Ignition while connected to machinery.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechatronics and/or working for a systems integrator.
Minimum 10 years' experience in similar role (ControlsEngineering)
Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, as needed work with integrators. Travel not expected to exceed 10%.

In this Role You Will:
* Projects: Support, lead, or manage larger automation, controls, and technology projects at manufacturing sites, including possible installation oversight. Collaborate with engineering and operations leaders from feasibility through startup and CQV (commissioning/qualification/verification).
* Standards and Best Practices: Apply, maintain, and develop engineering standards to ensure consistency and compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, NEC, OSHA 1910. Communicate standards, guidance, and recommendations to engineering and controls personnel at the sites.
* Vendor Engagement: Work closely with vendors to establish accurate quotations and resolving issues when needed. Leverage our internal resources to ensure terms and conditions are acceptable. Proactively engage with outside companies to explore new technologies.
* Corporate Support: Provide C&IS support to operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Support MES and IS Operations when priorities align.
* Automation Landscape: Understand current automation and technology state and drive targeted improvements, reapplications, and emerging technologies as part of the greater Operations Technology Team.
* Expert in Key Technologies: Serve as the subject matter expert for key technologies, providing guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams.

* Familiarity with NFPA and OSHA guidelines as they apply to electrical, controls, and automation
