Position Overview
The Controls Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical and pneumatic control systems for Timesavers' sanding machines. This role involves advanced PLC and HMI programming, system architecture development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Integration:
Develop electrical and pneumatic control system architectures.
Create and implement PLC and HMI programs, including operator interface screens.
Integrate Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance machine performance and productivity.

Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with mechanical engineers to develop hardware sensing solutions.
Assist service teams with troubleshooting and resolving control system issues.
Support on-site machine startup and commissioning as needed.
Support field service teams with diagnostics and issue resolution for existing control systems.
Project Leadership:
Lead mid-level automation projects from concept through deployment.
Interpret machine specifications and translate them into functional control systems.
Ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI development.
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI development.
Strong understanding of electrical schematics, pneumatic systems, and machine automation.
Experience with AutoCAD electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical
Familiarity with pneumatic systems and electrical schematics.

Troubleshoots and improves existing equipment's control system
Software
Programs PLCs, HMIs, Robots as well as SCADA and vision systems
Uses SolidWorks to design 3D models and create 2D drawings when necessary
Uses Visio to design electrical and pneumatic schematics
Uses an ERP system to enter hours and requisitions, complete repair requests
Uses Microsoft Office for project documentation
Documentation
Creates Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Product Specific Operating Procedures (PSOPs), and standard training documents
Trains personnel on SOPs and PSOPs
Education and Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering OR
Technical degree in engineering and 3 years related equivalent education/experience OR
10 years experience in Robotics and Automated Equipment
