Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.

What you would do in this job
As a Sworn Full-Time Metro Transit Police Officer,
you will protect employees and passengers, and safeguard property and equipment of Metro Transit across all municipalities of our eight county Metro-wide system. You will patrol assigned areas in a squad car, on foot, or onboard public transit and perform visual inspections and recognize, respond, investigate, and enforce violations of laws and ordinances.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
An associate degree in Law Enforcement from an accredited College or University AND must currently be MN Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) licensed or eligible to be POST licensed as a full-time peace officer in the State of Minnesota by the time of conditional offer.

FT Officers are eligible for up to a $4,000 hiring bonus:

How You Will Make an Impact
Perform inmate head counts, cell checks, and searches. Monitor, log, and supervise inmate movement, recreation, visitations, cleaning, laundry, and security checks. The Deputy must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machines, including, but not limited to squad car automobile, in-automobile computer and camera systems, evidence kits (i.e. blood and urine and sexual assault kits), audio and video surveillance equipment, cameras, first aid materials, personal protective gear (i.e. hazardous containment suit, bullet proof vest, and gas mask), two-way radio, firearms, explosive devices, restraint devices, computer, telephone, copier/printer/scanner, facsimile machine, and hand tools.
The Deputy must be capable of exercising self-control and physical effort when confronted with emergencies and potentially dangerous situations involving the use of firearms and physical force. The Deputy must demonstrate skill and proficiency in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, firearms, restraints, and other equipment. The Deputy has direct exposure to various types of evidentiary items including, narcotics, chemicals used to manufacture narcotics, drug paraphernalia, human and animal bodily fluids and weapons. Physical demand requirements are a variable blend of sedentary or office environment work and intermittent heavy physical exertion, sometimes without opportunity to prepare.
Environmental Conditions
Work regularly requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment, frequently requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and wearing a self contained breathing apparatus and occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, working with explosives and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

The position requires driving at high rates of speed on all types of road conditions while responding to stressful emergency calls. The position requires one to deal with hostile and combative persons as well as dealing with people wielding deadly weapons such as guns or knives.
The position is unique in that it requires the individual to work rotating shifts under many different conditions. This position is susceptible to working under wet humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts such as when rescuing people from farm accidents or traffic accidents, extreme weather conditions ranging from hot humid weather to extreme cold weather, along with dusty and dry conditions. There is the risk of exposure to radiation or other dangerous chemicals and further risks working in inadequate lighting or near dark conditions and the added risk of working with people and then being susceptible to contracting the HIV virus or other such viruses.

At the Lakeville Police Department, we believe in fostering strong relationships with the community we serve. Throughout the year, you'll have the opportunity to connect with residents at a variety of events. These include National Night Out, the First Responders Community Picnic, Safety Camps, Shop with a Hero, and even Lakeville's annual community celebration, Pan-O-Prog.
* Respond to police calls and/or emergencies, both off-duty and on-duty, as directed. Operate vehicles properly under both emergency and tactical conditions.
* Handle arrest situations and procedures as appropriate. This may include the apprehension of violators or providing appropriate warnings to suspects.
* Monitor and control hazardous roadway conditions and perform immediate action to remedy hazardous conditions; enforce traffic laws and other ordinances; and assist stranded motorists.
* Respond to traffic accidents and triage scenes. Provide rescue help and emergency first aid treatment as necessary and provide support to other agencies as directed.
* Conduct initial review of investigations including taking statements and gathering information or physical evidence as required. serve warrants and subpoenas as directed.
* Respond and react to various complaints and calls for assistance as appropriate or directed.
* Complete required reports and related documents for investigations, accidents, and preparation for court.
* Interact with victims, witnesses, survivors, and outside agencies in order to maintain effective community relations. Communicate appropriate information to help make the public aware of special areas of concern.
* Monitor and report on vehicle condition and appearance. Request necessary repairs. Restock vehicle with supplies when appropriate.
* Perform such other duties as are consistent with the tasks of the position and as may be assigned by the Chief of Police, his designee, or the City.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
* This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force;
* Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and lifting;
* Work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision;
* Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly;
* Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound;
* Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities;
* Work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock, working with explosives, exposure to vibration, wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment;
* Work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
* A Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field; OR
* An Associate's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field;
* Eligible to be licensed as a peace officer by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
* Must successfully complete a physical exam, psychological assessment, drug and alcohol screening, and background investigation. No felony convictions.
* Knowledge of State Statutes and local ordinances.
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge and experience in computer operations, including word processing.
* Ability to cope with situations professionally, courteously and tactfully and with respect for the rights of the citizen.
* Ability to acquire skill in the use and care of firearms.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge of modern police service delivery and investigation methods and procedures.
* Knowledge of recent developments, current literature and sources of information regarding modern police methods, techniques, and records.

The Sisseton Police Department is seeking a motivated, hard-working individual with a desire to serve the City of Sisseton as a full-time Police Officer. This position is responsible for performing varied assignments in motorized patrol, traffic control and enforcement, accident investigation, preliminary and follow-up investigation at crime scenes, and testifying in court.
The applicant must be of good moral character, self-motivated, have good people skills and interested in becoming a part of the community. Law Enforcement/Police Science education preferred but not necessary. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a United States citizen, and be a high school graduate or have a high school equivalency certificate. The applicant must have a South Dakota Driver license or be able to obtain one. The applicant must complete and pass a criminal history background check, and a financial background check. The applicant must also pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
Beginning wage is $25.80 - 27.30. Benefits include health insurance, state retirement, paid vacation, and sick leave.
