HCCH clinics participate in the National Health Service Corps loan repayment program Our clinics are located in the mountains of western North Carolina. All of our clinics are within two hours of Charlotte and minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This area offers ample opportunities for snow skiing and snowboarding, hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking. This position may have the option of being hired as an 10-month or 11-month employee. Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The School-Based Behavioral Health Specialist (SBBHS) is responsible for providing and coordinating behavioral health care for patients at High Country Community Health (HCCH), a fully integrated primary care setting. Services may be provided in a clinic or in a school-based setting. This clinician provides evidence-based behavioral health assessment and treatment services to referred patients, predominantly children and adolescents. The clinician monitors symptoms and response to treatment, and works closely/collaborates with the primary care provider, educational system, school staff, consulting psychiatrist/PMHNP, and resource specialist. There is also the opportunity to supervise graduate-level trainees, including doctoral students from the local university.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assess strengths, weaknesses, and presenting problems through completion of assessment tools and intake screening interview
Uses assessment information to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan
Provide individual and family therapy, as well as consultation with caregivers and teachers related to patients' needs
Collaborate with supervisor, school staff, medical provider and other treatment staff regarding observations and treatment interventions
Complete necessary documentation in accordance with service records requirements, Medicaid guidelines, and other insurance requirements
Creates, reviews, and modifies crisis plan as needed
Monitors, evaluates and records clients progress according to treatment plan

Requirements/Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Independently licensed psychological associate, clinical social worker or clinical mental health counselor. Applicants should have experience treating children and adolescents. The candidate will possess experience working within a team-based, interdisciplinary treatment environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within integrated primary care and/or school- based treatment settings.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport quickly with a wide range of patients.
Ability to work under supervision and collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team setting. Possess a pleasant, open attitude and a professional awareness of boundaries with patients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Seek supervision and consultation as needed with peers and supervisors.
Demonstrate an ongoing interest in learning. Competent computer usage. Desire to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse population.
Excellent working knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnoses and evidence-based treatments for mental health conditions, behavioral and relationship challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities
A positive, supportive role model who guides and influences group activities on a consistent basis that enhances the youth's confidence and self-esteem. Youth Counselors ensure the progress and welfare of each client and the group through therapeutic programs. Responsible for staff secure supervision during the afternoon, evening, and sleeping hours.
Lead group of youth through a variety of daily activities while providing group and individual counseling, with an emphasis on strength-based development. Ensure successful development of the youth through rational living cognitive behavioral therapy to help youth define their life goals and then help them achieve those goals-pointing out thinking errors and faulty cognitions along the way.
Qualifications
Must be 21 Years of Age or Older per DJJ Guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years' relevant experience working with youth is required. Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral services or outdoor recreation specialties is preferred. 2+ years of college in a social or human services can substitute youth experience requirement.
Direct care in a therapeutic/rehabilitative setting preferred.
Ability to travel about property, through wilderness terrain. Must be able to pass evaluation of crisis intervention/physical restraint techniques and written certification exam, and use approved techniques as needed. Must be able to participate in aquatic activities. Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time. Constant exposure to outdoors and/or weather conditions. Responsible for the overall supervision and safety of clients. Supervision may include shift work.
Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Valid and appropriate driver's license or state identification is required.

This residential treatment concept combines promising and evidence-based practices with a strong family transition component and signifies a public-private partnership with the Division of Juvenile Justice which has produced an innovative shift in the way youth are served in North Carolina's juvenile justice system. Intensive, short-term services include individualized treatment and academic plans that combine formal and experiential education, community service, behavioral health, and family counseling in a non-punitive environment designed to address the youth's behavioral challenges through a strength-based approach. Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor

Title Description- Family Services Specialist I represents the entry level employees working under close supervision while being trained in program areas such as, Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/'Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. Employees perform routine- to journey-level casework activities and the casework usually is reviewed by the supervisor prior to implementing a case action. Upon completion of the training program and attainment of necessary approvals, the employee shall be redefined to a full-performance Family Services Specialist II and becomes eligible for a pay increase as defined by the local agency compensation plan. The Family Services Specialist I is distinguished from the Family Services Specialist II by the latter's functioning more independently as a full performance Family Services Specialist.
General Work Tasks (Illustrative Only) -
Interprets laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility;
Monitors, coordinates and administers specific programs as assigned;
Coordinates services within specific area of responsibility;
Interviews and assesses customer needs and other relevant factors - such as education/skill levels, abilities, interests, and support systems.
Informs clients of related service programs rules/regulations, and right to participate;
Presents cases to determine appropriate services and writes/implements service plans;
Provides case management services to monitor compliance;
Manages program waiting lists;
Tracks expenditures, prepares/submits budget estimates and ensures payment for services;
Completes necessary federal, state and local planning and reporting requirements;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge- Some knowledge of: social work principles and practices; human behavior and motivational theory; and social, economic, and health problems.
Skills- Skill in operating a motor vehicle and personal computer with associated software.
Abilities- Demonstrated ability to: communicate effectively both orally and in writing; interview, assess needs, counsel and refer clients to other resources as needed; develop and implement service plans in order to insure the delivery of appropriate services to the client; make sound judgments within the framework of existing laws, policies, and regulations; respond to the client's emotions in order to accomplish services objectives; plan and manage own work activities including service delivery preparing reports, and correspondence, record keeping responsibilities and related activities; establish and maintain effective relationships; and stay abreast of current trends and developments in the social work field.
Education and Experience- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area as mandated in Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia and implemented by the Virginia Board of Social Services. Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.

Our Camp Counselor positions have the potential to serve as competitively paid internships that meet your course credit needs.
First and foremost, your primary responsibilities will be as a Camp Counselor. As an Intern, you will be expected to fulfill your regular daily job responsibilities and it will be up to you to complete your internship responsibilities and to ensure that they do not interfere with your work obligations. Contact your college advisor in advance and ask them if you can use your summer camp job as a practicum, internship or for other course credits. If KE Camps can meet your internship requirements, your on-site Camp Director will be your field supervisor and oversee your course work. You will also be connected to a KE Camps contact at our HQ in Skillman, NJ. To receive credit, you must complete the course, practicum or internship per your college's parameters and complete your summer employment.
As a Camp Counselor, you will be an active participant in all camp activities and will assist your Camp Director with a variety of daily tasks, all with the goal of creating a memorable and meaningful camp experience for your campers.
