Essential Job Functions: (Medical Assistant/Desk-Focused) * Perform patient check-out following provider visits, ensuring all orders and follow-up instructions are addressed * Schedule follow-up appointments, procedures, and return visits according to provider recommendations * Order diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging as directed by providers * Coordinate with imaging centers, laboratories, and outside facilities to ensure tests are scheduled correctly and meet provider specifications * Verify that orders are complete, accurate, and comply with facility requirements * Serve as a primary point of contact for patients via phone and electronic communication * Answer incoming calls, assess patient needs, and provide accurate information or route calls to the appropriate staff or provider * Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, test orders, instructions, and next steps in care * Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to clarify orders and patient care plans * Track test orders and follow up to ensure completion and receipt of results. * Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) * Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies General Skills: * Provide courteous and friendly service to all patient and contributes to a positive team-based work environment * Solid interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication abilities * Ability to work in a stressful environment reacting calmly and effectively in all situations * Ability to work as a team player and able to cooperate and collaborate with others Clinical Skills: * Accurate vital signs: (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight) * Infection Control: (PPE, hand washing, sharps containers, biohazard disposal) * Equipment use and maintenance: (ophthalmoscope/otoscope, sat. monitor, thermometer) * Giving injections Additional Job Functions & Expectations * Willingness and ability to be cross trained in multiple clinic roles to support overall operations * Primary assignment will be Check-Out Medical Assistant duties but must have the ability to provide coverage for rooming Medical Assistant responsibilities when needed * Ability to assist with front desk duties, including patient check-in and general administrative support, as required after training * Adaptability to changing workflow demands in a fast-paced clinical environment * Collaborative team member who supports coworkers to ensure continuity of patient care Qualifications: * Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program/school * Current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of hire. * Working knowledge of medical terminology * Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. * Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time. * Previous experience preferred. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday Additional Notes: Must be willing to travel to Mesquite with other staff 2 times a month for clinic.
