* Organizes, stores and tracks electronic inventory of dental instruments/supplies/equipment in the OHC Central Sterilization, Dispensary and/or Simulation Clinic
* Supports student clinicians and contributes to an efficient productive clinic operation and positive patient experiences
* Is competent in instrument transfer, field isolation, dental material handling for all general and specialty dental procedures performed by a general dentist; performs all procedures as allowed under the Missouri Division of Professional Registration, Missouri State Dental Board, Rules Relating to DentalAssistants
* Provides support during medical emergencies
* Provides patient care support by exposing digital diagnostic images and organizing and storing those images
* Performs digital scanning and laboratory procedures under the direction of the dentist; captures digital intraoral and extra oral images
* Supports clinic operations, including monitoring and cleaning/disinfecting clinic operatories and support spaces;
* Reports equipment failures; maintaining/recording logs related to instrument/material/equipment dispensing
* Exhibits a professional appearance and demeanor and supports the educational mission of the clinical faculty, including role modeling and the teaching of students on how to function as a dentalassistant on the dental team, both in four-handed chairside activities and in clinical operational support

Ensure that OSHA safety and cleanliness regulations are followed during patient treatment.
Ensure that disposables are handled correctly before leaving facilities.
Check out with dental contact at facility, including review of chart notes. Leave printed copies of chart notes with facilities for patient charts.
Work with clinical support manager on schedule and follow up of patient care and treatment.
Maintain dental equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance routines.
Inventory supplies and order as needed.

Job Description:
The MA III performs administrative duties that might include, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records under the direct supervision of a supervisor or provider. This position is part of the School Health and Dental Outreach team. For School Health this position assists by participating with in-person enrollments for school districts, responsible for collecting dental outreach consents, performing the registration process for students/patients by scanning/labeling consents while updating demographics and verifying KMAP insurance, ensuring all dental consents are completely filled out with two signatures, organizing consents by teacher and grade, updating school rosters in the OneDrive, assisting hygienists with dental screenings, assisting hygienists with clinical notes and generating referrals, helping to get students to treatment area, preparing take home letters when full hygiene services are performed, and directing patients to community resources as needed.
This position is also a part of Adult Dental Outreach. For Adult Outreach this position assists by performing the registration process for all patients by scanning/labeling all CHC/SEK clinic registration paperwork as well as scanning/labeling/making appropriate Alerts in charts for the Shared Authorization form, Dental Health History and Dental Outreach Medication list all while updating demographics and verifying insurance, ensuring all paperwork is completely filled out with all appropriate signatures, scheduling patients on provider's schedule, updating adult rosters in the OneDrive as treatment is completed and assisting in take home letters.
This position may also function as a DentalAssistant, including being responsible for assisting the dentist or dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services as well as responsible for sterilization and preparation of dental supplies.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Performs registration for all dental outreach, enters KMAP insurance information and demographics, and scans documents to the EHR.
* Maintains consistent patient flow by monitoring scheduling system and determines how patients will be called into treatment area and helps walk younger patients back and forth.
* Obtains patient consents as required by policy and schedules.
* Participates in on-site enrollments.
* Assists patients/sites with resources either within CHC/SEK or the community as needed.
* Schedules appointments as requested by the dental provider or dental outreach coordinator.
* Communicates with parents and school staff regarding student needs as appropriate for position.
* Interviews patients, measure vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, updates medication list and allergies at each visit and records information in EHR.
* Serves as the dentist's or dental hygienist's chair-side assistant as needed.
* Prepares operatory for patient treatment per clinical protocols and/or dentist's or dental hygienist's direction.
* Maintains a sterile and neat working environment. Helps with sterilization of instruments.
* Observes universal precautions at all times.
* Assists with maintaining adequate outreach supplies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Responsible for limited x-ray services as needed
Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy using established procedures and safety protocols to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
Patient Registration
Conduct patient registration, which includes securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility.
Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for assigned center.
Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist.
Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status.
Patient Preparation and Rooming
Inform technical staff of patient flow.
Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit;
Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed.
Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider.
Stocking
Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed.
Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly check expiration dates on supplies.
Administrative
Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence.
Ensure reception is well maintained.
Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up.
Perform opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building.
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
