Teamwork: Actively participates in team meetings to facilitate maximum appointments and same day access. Meet with the team to ensure that the dentist's productivity and schedule are reviewed and populated throughout the day. Help in the orientation of new employees or students. Work with unit team members as well as other personnel to ensure a smooth patient flow and minimize gaps in the day. Communicate specific patient needs and/or population management information. RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospital Corpsmen (HM) assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families. They may function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel and healthcare providers at medical treatment facilities. Specifically, Hospital Corpsmen may be called upon to:
Perform emergency medical treatment on SEALs, Seabees, Marines and other military personnel injured in the field, as well as on Sailors aboard ships or aircraft
Perform emergency dental treatment as well as construct dental crowns and bridges, process
dental X-rays and operate X-ray equipment
Serve as an operating room technician for general and specialized surgery
Help administer a wide range of preventive care and medications, including immunizations and intravenous fluids

Maintain patient treatment records, conduct research and perform clinical tests
Assist Navy Physicians and Nurses in a variety of medical fields, including, but not limited to: radiology, physical therapy, phlebotomy, dental, surgery, family medicine, pathology, womens health and more

* Reviews all patient screening forms to ensure all outstanding healthcare screenings are performed and reviews medical records and collect referral information for colon screenings, DM eye exams, mammograms and labs
* Records patient care documentation in the medical records accurately and according to company policy
* Conducts post audits on all information submitted to quality program to make sure information is complete and presented within the guidelines. Any items rejected due to noncompliance will be researched and resubmitted according to guidelines
* Reviews all medical information, test results and survey questions prior to the patient leaving to ensure all information is captured
* Presents abnormal results to the provider promptly to ensure there is not an emergent condition that needs immediate attention
* Post clinic preparation of mobile team charts for faxing, filing and forwarding to the PCP offices
* Compiles results and enters information into utilization reports for submission to management
* Works as a liaison between mobile team, physician business managers, and contracted PCP offices to ensure all patient information is reported accurately and are completed. Offers solutions to improve quality goals
* Coordinates with the providers and contracted PCP groups to ensure timely submission of their screenings to the DataRaps department
* Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the department as well as proper release of patient information at all times
* Maintains certifications (MA and CPR) and quality control standards
* Participates in marketing events as determined by business need
* Performs all other related duties as assigned

PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Refugio Unaccompanied Children Shelter and Foster Care Program provide 24-hour care and services serves infants, toddlers, tender age, and standard age children in immigration custody who are awaiting release to their sponsors. POSITION OVERVIEW The Medical Assistant will perform assigned medical care activities in the shelter. This position will assist in the documentation of medical activities including daily/monthly reports, escorting children to Medical, Specialty, Dental, Vision and Hearing services, Laboratory, imaging services, processing Treatment Authorization Requests (TARS), updating the UC Portal, and patient record processing. This employee works closely with Health Care Providers and Dental Providers, Youth Care Staff, and other related departments. Responsible for interviewing and recording medical/personal information on child's medical files

* Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
* Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
* Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
* Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
* Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
* Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Certified Medical Assistant position will have the following background and experience:
Level 1
* High school graduate or equivalent.
* Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
* This is an entry level position requiring 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
* Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
* Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
* Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.
Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements)
* Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
* Phlebotomy experience preferred.
* Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements)
* Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
* Current CPR certification required.
