This position based out of our Rockford, IL facility and will be responsible for supporting our customers in the surrounding Rockford area. As a Forklift Field Mechanic at Wolter, you'll be the heart of our mission. Here's what you'll dive into: Complete all assigned service jobs with precision and dedication. Collaborate with the Lead Field Mechanic, ensuring effective communication on any technical challenges or unusual service problems. Attend service training classes to stay up to date on new products and refresh your knowledge on less encountered ones. Submit daily paperwork promptly, including timecards and maintenance reports with customer signatures. Maintain open communication with dispatchers and the service office, updating them on job status and availability for new assignments. Identify jobs that should be sent to our shop for repair, providing valuable recommendations based on complexity or safety reasons. Develop and nurture relationships with territory sales representatives, keeping them informed of potential sales opportunities. Always uphold safety rules and policies, ensuring a secure working environment. Essential Skills and Experience: Masterful skills in repairing powered industrial equipment, with a minimum of two (2) years' experience fixing forklift trucks and other products we represent, including LP Gas, diesel, and electric trucks. Successful completion of required training courses. Stellar communication skills, both written and verbal. A time management pro who can juggle multiple priorities. Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals. Ownership of tools necessary for repairs, as per our recommended tool list. Certification to operate material handling equipment. Wholehearted commitment to the company's vision and mission. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally, 5-30 pounds more frequently, and up to 30 pounds very frequently. Frequently standing, reclining, kneeling, walking, twisting, reaching, and using feet to repair and operate machinery. Occasional sitting, stooping, crouching, squatting, climbing, and crawling. Constant use of hands and fingers for repairs and office work.
