Job Expectations: • Commitment to AFW's safety policies and procedures and ability to promote awareness. • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems. • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting. • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and calling for repairs. • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluates service and parts options. • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; and reading technical and regulation publications. • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. • Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills. • Professional with good communication skills. • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and professionalism. Job Summary The Field Forklift Technician will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing various Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Key Job Responsibilities Perform routine preventative maintenance on Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair MHE including, but not limited to: Liquid Propane, Gas and Diesel engines, Transmissions, Hydraulic Systems, Steering Systems, Electrical Systems, and Brakes. Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications. Provide Information and recommend services to the Sales team. Manage work orders (paper and digital) for each job in a timely manner. Perform hazard assessments and maintain a high standard of safe work practices and quality control. Follow company and OSHA safety rules and guidelines. Avoid injuries and damage to property, loss of unused materials and clean-up of work area debris. Completes all necessary company training in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Key Performance Measurements A score card that reflects performance in areas such as safety, completion time for projects, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution. Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness & ability to learn new skills and information. Other key metrics prescribed by Elite Material Handling leadership, resulting in positive customer and Company impact. Requirements: Experience in repair and maintenance of: Electrical, Diesel and Internal Combustion Forklifts; Aerial Lifts; Lift Trucks; and other related material handling equipment. Minimum of 2 years is highly preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technology driven, service environment. Possess strong teamwork skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbal and written, with management and customers. Able to manage time effectively, as well as complete service reports, timecards and parts ordering. Must have schedule flexibility, as services may be performed during evenings, weekends or holidays. Willingness to work overtime. High School Diploma or GED is required. Must be able to pass a standard Department of Transportation (DOT) physical. The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
