Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to ensure the health, safety, and accountability for adults with development disabilities in a residential facility, residential home, or Day Program. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
* Meets with family members and service providers to determine needs of clients; completes a variety of assessments and assist with the development of residential plan.
* Provides and assists individuals living in their residential homes, which includes: providing information; making appointments and referrals; documenting behaviors; and providing training and supervision to adults with mental and physical disabilities.
* Assists with activities of daily living, which includes bathing and grooming, dressing and undressing, meal preparation and feeding, safe restroom use; and maintaining continence.
* Assists with household chores and laundry.

* Completes inventory; assists them in shopping for their needs.
* Assists clients in managing their money.
* Advocates for clients.
* Monitors health care, nutrition, and diet that is prescribed by client's primary doctor.

Job Summary/ Purpose:
The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full-time in the pre- and post- operative care of cardiac patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The APP will join a busy Cardiothoracic Surgery division that includes 6 cardiac surgeons, 4 thoracic surgeons, 10 residents and 15 APPs. The division performs CABG, valve replacement, robotic heart surgery, left ventricular assist device placement, heart and lung transplant, lobectomy, esophagectomies and more. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Division is a leader in surgical care for patients.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 12.5 hour rotating inpatient shifts. Night and weekend availability required.
8 hour outpatient shifts.

All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.
Job Duties
Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
* Alternating role in the inpatient step-down unit and outpatient clinic setting. Possible need to travel to outreach clinics in Mount Pleasant or West Ashley while in outpatient role. This position does not include OR or ICU patient management.
* Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
* Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
* Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief
* Examples: Chest tube placement and removal, bedside chemical pleurodesis, arterial line placement, ultrasound guided IV placement, wound vac placement, simple suture, etc.
* Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
* Documents and bills for direct care provided
* Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
* Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
* Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
* Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
* Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
* APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law
Physical Requirements
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Additional Job Description
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies. The PCA is a non-skilled worker that may possess a certificate of training either formally (i.e., Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or in-house formal training; competency and assessment by an experienced RN, licensed by the state of South Carolina or an experienced LPN, with at least 3 years of experience). The Resident Care Associate is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services to a consistent group of residents and their families in our assisted living and

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RESIDENT CARE
Resident Care Associate | CNA
Participates in the development of the Personalized Service Plans and updates; attends service plan review meetings with families as requested
Follows the hydration schedule established for the residents is maintained during the shift
Completes resident meal attendance sheets have been completed and any resident who has not dined in the dining room has been provided room service and / or accounted for.
Knows and complies with all resident rights
Initiates, assigns, and assist with activities, as appropriate
Check all assigned residents daily for cleanliness, appropriate clothing, any continence issues and change in condition
Uses proper sanitary procedures and universal precautions
Checks on assigned resident rooms daily for general cleanliness and neatness and takes appropriate action; ensures high risk rooms are double checked
Assist with conducting laundry rooms, common areas - including bathrooms - checks for cleanliness and any exposed hazardous chemicals; and takes appropriate action (i.e. contacting housekeeping, personally cleaning the room, securing the chemicals)
Completes all ADLs for assigned residents according to the resident's Personalized Service Plan (PSP)
Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly & immediately; takes appropriate action including resetting call bells
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE- CERTIFICATION
