Ares is currently seeking candidates for the Associate role within our Direct Lending Group in our Los Angeles office.
We are one of the largest self-originating direct lenders to the U.S. middle market. The U.S. Direct Lending team primarily operates out of offices in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles team has over 25 investment professionals dedicated to U.S. Direct Lending, with most being industry generalists.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work well with limited supervision are of critical importance. This position presents candidates with a unique opportunity to join a growing group that offers significant exposure to all phases of the investment process.
Primary functions and essential responsibilities:
The Associate will provide support for the sourcing, underwriting and credit analysis of potential new investments, assist in deal closings and be involved in post-closing portfolio management and investment monitoring.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing detailed financial and market analysis that forms the basis for decisions on new debt and/or equity investments of the firm
Screening new investment opportunities
Preparing various complex excel financial models including cash flow analysis, debt sizing and structuring
Preparing investment committee memos
Analyzing investment performance including maintaining and updating investment valuations and financial models as well as keeping track of relevant current market activities
Preparing quarterly portfolio reports summarizing changes in performance and updating forecasts
Assisting in investment closings
Meeting with management teams and sponsors when assessing new investment opportunities and monitoring the existing portfolio

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Responsibilities
Assists individuals with their assessments, planning, and the evaluation process. May support individuals in preparing for and attending meetings with their support team, as well as advocating and facilitating changes to the Service Plan as necessary.
Assists in the development and implementation of an Individual Service Plan (ISP) consistent with the individual's personal goals. Maintains required documentation and data, including ISP's, quarterly and annual evaluations, and case notes.
Assists individual with the selection of person-centered activities and life skills learning experiences, in accordance with individual desires, ISP and Individual Program Plan (IPP) objectives as needed.
Works with other direct support associates in the planning and delivery of activities consistent with individual and service objectives.
Supervises individuals while they are at the service, and provides personal care support as required; which may include nutrition, personal hygiene, and assisting the individual to look their best.
Supports individuals in finding their preferred way to communicate their needs and choices, and educates them in the use of the appropriate tools to help them find their voice.
Safely and effectively uses all technology, alternative communication and adaptive equipment related to the individuals and the service. Trains individuals in the use of assistive technology as directed.
Follows procedures, standards, guidelines, and best practices established in designated services; and adheres and complies with applicable regulations external to the organization, to ensure health and safety of individuals and service line staff, compliance and quality of services. Attends in-service trainings and meetings as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to demonstrate actively listening, patience, and empathy in communicating with individuals that use the service.
Able to be creative and flexible, problem solve, organize and complete tasks in a timely manner, follow directions of supervisor (written and oral instructions), take initiative, work effectively with other team members and volunteers.
Able to interact appropriately and maintain positive working relationships with associates, stakeholders, individuals and their family members, caregivers and the general public.
Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills; exercise discretion and handle sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.
Ability to properly interpret and follow policies, procedures, and regulations.
Basic proficiency in general computer use, and be able to input information in applications utilized by the service line.
Ability to provide assistance with personal care to participants, including ability to transfer an individual who has no weight-bearing skills.
Ability to resolve conflicts and remain calm and collective in stressful environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively. Ability to walk, stoop, stand, and kneel for extended periods of time. Ability to push wheelchairs on a variety of terrain. Must be able to tolerate an outdoor work environment inclusive of a variety of weather conditions. Move and re-arrange furniture (i.e.: tables and chairs for activities).
Ability to travel locally with individuals who use the service to participate in activities related to the service.
Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements.
Ability to provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity.
Ability to pass post-offer medical examination and test for tuberculosis. Ability to provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity.
Must pass all drug testing required by ESSC.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma.
Possess and maintain valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
EXPERIENCE:
Two to four (2-4) years of related experience is preferred.

Carries out funeral arrangements from intake to final disposition on the phone
Ensures that all federal, state, and local regulations related to the funeral industry are followed
Maintains respect for the deceased at all times while on the phone with families
Responsible for handling all aspects of the paperwork associated with the Funeral Arrangement for each family.
Facilitate the filing of the Death Certificates
Maintains the online files, logs, and folders in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
Answers the phone using the NSMG principles of ECHO
When “On Call” ensures that all forms of communications are used in keeping arrangers, families, and transfer services informed of the progress of all the cases
Maintain a high level of personal organization as the position requires multi-tasking within an ever-changing environment
Ability to handle phone calls from our Answering Service “After Hours” on a scheduled basis
