Accurately enter call details into the call center information system and follow local procedures to ensure proper escalation.

Provide clerical support including data entry, filing, report generation, and distribution.

This is an entry level classification which provides the opportunity for both instructional and practical experience and broad exposure to the fundamentals of emergency call taking. Through attendance in the Regional Communications Academy, trainees will be educated to the processes of responding to callers reporting emergency and non-emergency complaints for police, fire, medical, and other public safety services received via telephone, text message, and other communications devices within the Regional Communications Division of the Broward County Sheriff's Office. This is an entry level position in which emphasis is placed on training the incumbent for continued advancement through the Communications Operator classification series. Employees receive classroom instruction that will introduce law enforcement, fire, and medical call interrogation techniques, education, and certification on International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) protocols, and the utilization of various software applications to include Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and VIPER telephonic equipment. Key Responsibilities:

What you need to succeed
* High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
* Two (2) years of experience in related field or one (1) year of computer-aided dispatcher experience
* Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
* Knowledge of security and safety measures applicable to college operations
* Knowledge in the use of two-way radio devices, telephonic communication and other communication devices
* Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and general office practices and procedures
* Proficient in basic computer skills
* Ability to react promptly and correctly in emergency situations
* Ability to express ideas and instructions clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work effectively and adapt to a critical, high volume and fast paced office environment
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
* Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with procedures, laws and regulations and apply these to solve problems in an appropriate manner
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, on-call assignments and respond to after-hour emergencies
* Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff

Job Description
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You take care of the dispatching duties for existing clients.
Answer incoming driver and customer calls.
Search various truck load boards for load opportunities.
Book loads and accurately input load and driver related information into the dispatch system.
Ensure that all trucks are covered in a timely manner.
Monitors pick-ups and deliveries and notifies customer of any deviation from the schedule.
Instruct driver of the location for load delivery and pick-up.
Ensures that ETD's and ETA's remain accurate.
You can develop relationships and recruit new owner operators or small fleets!
We pay commission for every new client you bring in.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years freight dispatching experience.
Working knowledge of State and Federal safety regulations (including hours of service)
