Receives and answers inquiries of the NCIC, SCIC, NJLETS, NLETS, and CJIS system for other agencies. Maintains incident reports of complaints, and prepares and types a variety of reports. Operates NCIC computer terminal to retrieve license registration information and criminal records. Receives and transmits messages via the NCIC, SCIC, NJLETS, NLETS systems per established guidelines. Acts as receptionist to in-person callers and assists them in contacting the appropriate Authority personnel in a timely manner. Search digital media archives and locate media of evidential value for incidents. Prepare and log such evidence in accordance with evidence control policies Trains assigned relief operators on the Dispatcher's duties. Deals with varied emergency situations and must expeditiously give assistance to callers frequently in a state of panic. The position holder is the one who makes the primary decision about whom to contact. The position requires the individual to work a variety of shifts on a rotating basis, holidays and overtime as necessary Performs other related duties as required and assigned. This position is required to successfully complete state and federal mandated programs and refresher courses and also required to participate in reoccurring in-service training programs as ordered by the Police Chief.
