This position supports clients throughout California's Central Valley. As an experienced professional, you will work with limited direction from your manager. You will ascertain project scope and expectations from account managers, your manager, or other engineers. Using your skills as an engineer, you will develop designs that meet project scope requirements, selecting industrial components, automation systems, instrumentation and network equipment incorporating all into a cohesive and clear engineering package. The engineering packages will clearly communicate design intent and support fabrication, installation, qualification, and acceptance testing. As a key Novate employee, professionalism will extend to properly documented performance within the Novate process workflow (PSA tools, Novate cloud space and various other tools). You will communicate via email, phone, and through our PSA tools with other Novate team members, clients and vendors with professionalism and respect. Your internal drive for improvement, and native curiosity will help you pursue professional growth, certification, licensure, and advancement within the Novate engineering team from Engineer I to II, III and then to Sr. Engineer I. You will work to lead Associate Engineers within the same field as you continue to build leadership and management experience. Job requirements Requirements · Experience as an Electrical Engineer in the industrial automation and controls industry. · Solid understanding of common automation components, including: PLCs PACs VFDs Servo Systems Process Instruments Sensors · Thrives under pressure and excels in a fast-paced work environment with a variety of projects. · Ability to create accurate professional drawings from concept sketches and shop drawings. · Proficient using AutoCAD Suite and AutoCAD Electrical. · Proficient with Microsoft Office Teams and SharePoint. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. . Ability to host/facilitate design reviews with client and team members with clear understanding of the design package. · Solid understanding of I&C codes and standards, including the NEC, NFPA 70E, 79, and UL 508/A. · Ability to work with diverse personalities. · Be team oriented. · Excellent organization and time management skills. · Ability to travel, when necessary for field visits/client meetings, FAT/SATs within the US (typically about 15%, mostly California). · Ability to type 35 + WPM. Education: · Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program. (Preferred) · Associate Degree in an Engineering program (minimum) License/Certifications: · Valid driver's license (required) · Registered Professional Engineer (PE) (Novate will support application, training and reciprocity) · ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) Competencies: · Communication · Tenacity · Critical Thinking · Technical Mastery Physical Demands: The ability to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and crawling into confined spaces.
