The General Construction Electrician's primary role is to provide direct on-site electrical support to building construction and fabrication teams, such as installing and removing temporary power hardware, running conduit and cable for fabrication equipment, tracing cables to identify origin and end points, and isolating and applying LOTO to electrical circuits for construction personnel safety. The General Construction Electrician's secondary role is to help plan upcoming demolition and installation work through review of existing and design documentation, quality control planning, and schedule development. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain medium voltage (1kV-35kV) systems and, where applicable, 69kV Navy systems. Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of electrical components including underground cable systems, switches (oil, SF6, air), transformers, ground grid systems, and fuses. Troubleshoot electrical issues using specialized tools: multimeters, meggers, ammeters, cable locators, fault finders, high-potential test equipment, etc. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E standards, and PPE requirements. No live (hot) work is permitted without prior written authorization. Respond to electrical service calls and emergencies, ensuring systems remain operational. Maintain and repair airfield lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lights, beacons, current regulators, optical landing systems, and control systems. Pull and install underground cables, splice and terminate cables using appropriate kits and sealing methods. Inspect and maintain transformers and perform oil sampling for analysis. In this role you will support multiple clients through troubleshooting, maintenance and installation of many different types of technologies along the roadside. What You'll Be Doing: * Troubleshoot, and maintain raceways, wiring, and equipment for electrical systems, access controls, intrusion detection, and other systems. * Inspect, tests, and performs preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communications, and power circuits * Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. * Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones. * Follow the safety rules and regulations of the Company, Client & OSHA regulations. * Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job, ability to operate equipment.
