Job Description:
Garfield Heights City Schools is seeking a dedicated and energetic Middle School Head Track & Field Coach to lead and develop the middle school program. The Head Coach will be responsible for providing instruction across multiple track & field events, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, and creating a positive, development-focused athletic experience. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of track & field fundamentals, experience working with youth athletes, and a commitment to upholding district and OHSAA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Athlete Development: Provide mentorship, skill instruction, and positive guidance to student-athletes while emphasizing discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Program Management: Plan, organize, and oversee a middle school track & field program focused on fundamental skill development, event exposure, and preparation for high school competition.
Compliance & Eligibility: Ensure all athletes meet academic, behavioral, and eligibility standards aligned with OHSAA and Garfield Heights City Schools policies.
Practice & Meet Preparation: Design structured practices, introduce multiple event areas (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, relays), develop meet strategies, and prepare athletes for competition.
Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and supervise assistant coaches and event specialists to ensure cohesive instruction across all track & field disciplines.
Safety & Conduct: Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment during all practices, meets, travel, and team activities.
Athletic Development: Collaborate with the athletic department and strength/conditioning staff to support injury prevention, performance enhancement, and year-round athlete development.
Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community members to foster support for the track & field program.
Program Operations: Oversee meet scheduling, equipment and uniform needs, team communication, and overall program logistics.
Professional Growth: Stay current on track & field coaching methods, OHSAA regulations, and best practices in youth athletic development.
Other Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director or school administration.
Qualifications:
Valid Pupil Activity Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
Satisfactory BCI/FBI background checks
Prior high school or collegiate coaching experience preferred (minimum 3-5 years strongly encouraged)
Strong understanding of track & field training, techniques, and event-specific development
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, families, and staff
Demonstrated commitment to academic success, sportsmanship, and student well-being

Essential Functions:
Assist in developing players for the varsity team with direction from head coach.
Responsible to the head coach. Shall carry out the program and recommendations established by the head coach. Under no circumstances shall a coach initiate policies or procedures which are inconsistent with the recommendations of the head coach.
Proper attire shall be worn during practice and games.
Responsible for the collection of appropriate physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all players.
Use the offensive and defensive philosophy as provided by the head coach.
Carry required emergency forms for all players, scorekeepers and managers for all practices and games.
Responsible for the distribution and collection of all equipment.
Communicate your team selection to the head coach prior to announcing to your players.
Conduct himself/herself on the field at all times in such a manner that he/she will not insult players, officials or spectators. Do not argue a judgment call by the officials. Know the rules. Be responsible for the conduct of your players. Teach by example. Encourage positive fan involvement.
Report all games to the middle school and the athletic director.
Be willing to attend clinics with head coach.
Assist head coach with off-season coverage, attend staff meetings and assist head coach with scouting and other responsibilities that are delegated by head coach.
Organize and conduct practices as needed.
Be loyal to the head coach and the program at all times.
Supervise all team members before, during and after practice and games.
Assist in planning schedules, transportation, officials and setting up for home games.
Inform all participants of the safety precautions associated with their sport or activity and teach proper skills to reduce chance of injury. Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns.
Responsible for reporting and care of all injuries.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.

The Locations:
Classes are held across schools, parks, and recreational centers. Coaches are expected to travel up from 5 mins to an hour to get to a class location. Admin staff will staff coaches in the closest locations.
Coaches are expected to arrive 15 minutes before classes start, and are paid 15 mins beforehand and 15 minutes afterwards, 30 mins extra per shift.

Provide ongoing supportive consultations and prevention case management services delivered either virtually or through a combination of phone calls, emails, skype, or in-person through individual meetings, including but not limited to:
Assessing and administering universal screenings, financial literacy training, and/or concrete supports.
Universal screenings will assess families for trauma, substance use, and mental health. The tools utilized may include but are limited to: the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) Survey; the Child Trauma Assessment Checklist (CTAC); UNCOPE (substance abuse screening); and a mental health screening tool.
Provide short-term, intensive, in-home services:
Provide interested families a series of one to two home visits each month and access to the full array of the six pillars (family coaching, parent education, basic life skills, financial literacy, service referrals, and concrete supports) of service delivery.
Serve as a Family Coach to develop a prevention services plan, outlining the families' goals and will utilize evidence-based programming to enhance the families' protective factors and increase the family's stability.

Actively engage with family and child serving systems, including attendance at community meetings, such as Family and Children First Council.
Represent the OCTF at any required national and local trainings and meetings.
Serve as point of contact for the county of service; and

Dogtopia of Solon is seeking hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated Canine Coach for our state-of-the-art facility! No experience? No worries! Come and join the fastest growing dog daycare family in the US and Ohio.
This is a new location that will be opening in November at 6025 Kruse Dr in Solon, OH.
As the Canine Coach you are responsible for leading the playroom for our furry friends by creating a safe and fun environment resulting in the “Best Day Ever” for our puppies! This includes routinely engaging the dogs, maintaining a clean playroom and monitoring for safety issues. This position is fast paced and very rewarding for those who LOVE working with dogs!

Requirements
Qualified applicants will have the following minimum requirements:
18 years of age or older
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable with dogs of all sizes and breeds
Ability to lift 35 pounds with no restrictions
Maintain a clean and organized workspace as Dogtopia is the cleanest facility any pet parent can choose
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Embrace our operational, health, safety, sanitization, and security policies/procedures
Energetic and enthusiastic attitude, including the delivery of exceptional service to both our 4-legged and 2-legged clients!
Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team.
Ability to work weekends and some holidays
