Mechanical co-ops can expect to get hands on experience with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems like geothermal, and building automation systems. By the end of the program co-ops will have gained the experience to get a head start in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry and will have the potential to become a part of the fastest growing ESCO in the country.
**Job Functions: (may include but are not limited to):**
+ Assist in all aspects of the project development phase - including site visits, building audits, energy calculations
+ Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate feasibility of energy savings measures identified
+ Produce detailed construction documents using CAD
+ Assemble organized sets of project drawings and documents
+ Collect and analyze energy data, often involving field verification

**Requirements:**

This role carries responsibility for management-level issue expediting, field technical support, startup technical support and commissioning technical oversight. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Understanding on power system and provide power system failure analysis, event analysis or SOE analysis and or develop a metering / triggering system to conduct such analysis.
Understanding of electrical power systems including generators, transformers, motors, automated switch gear, protective relays, UPS systems, DRUPS systems, motor-generator sets, battery storage systems, inverters, PV systems, wind turbines, substation equipment etc.
Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred

Under the supervision of senior engineering staff, responsibilities include:
* Developing hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.

* Developing control system software in PLC ladder logic, function block, HMI programming, etc.

* Supporting hardware assembly and fabrication.

* A student in a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
* 0-5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, or commissioning.
* A desire to learn software development in high-level programming languages such as C/C++/C# and in engineering application software tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB and SIMULINK.
* An interest and background in electronics, instrumentation, control and data acquisition systems, PLCs, variable frequency drive systems, motion control systems, sensors and transmitters, actuators, PID control, and communication networks.
* A solid math background to select and develop data uncertainty calculations, digital filter algorithms, control transfer function realizations, and process simulation.
