AEI specializes in natural resources management, wetland determinations and delineations, environmental baseline studies, NEPA-related projects, environmental due diligence, GIS analysis and mapping, and cultural resources management.
AEI is currently seeking a Project Archaeologist based in San Antonio, Texas. This individual will be an integral part of AEI's team and must be willing to work closely with peers and management personnel in a small business setting. This individual will be expected to assist the Archaeology Principal Investigator with fieldwork, data analysis, report preparation for projects and tasks related to cultural resources management, as well as manage small-scale cultural resources projects. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, collaborative, and technically adept. Duties will also include client interactions, business development/marketing, and proposal preparation over time with the company.
AEI is seeking to fill a mid-level position. Candidates with 3-5 years of experience, meeting the required qualifications below, will be considered.
Example Responsibilities
· Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection and/or field assignments.
· May serve as team member or lead in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
· Maintains archaeology collections and files related to specific projects.
· Prepares technical reports in accordance with established guidelines.
· Keeps current with trends, literature, and new developments in the field of archaeology.
· May oversee work performed by lower-level staff (e.g. field technicians).
· Evaluates laboratory and field data and assembles written reports.
· Performs assignments under the direction of Principal Investigators.
· Coordinates with Principal Investigators to ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget constraints.
· May serve as a co-Principal Investigator, based on experience level.
· Conducts archaeological investigations in accordance with applicable state/federal guidelines; and performs fieldwork in adverse environmental conditions (i.e., rugged terrain, inclement weather, remote locations).
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
· Master's degree or above, Secretary of the Interior qualified as a Professional Archaeologist
· 3-5 years relevant job experience
· Physically able to walk at least 10 miles in heat and rugged terrain, carrying up to 25 lbs of equipment/supplies
· Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to multi-task
· Professional and self-motivated attitude
· Flexible and willing to travel for fieldwork
· Possess valid Texas driver's license upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
· Active Register of Professional Archaeologist (RPA) membership
· Experience with GIS mapping and modeling (highlight coursework if applicable)
Typically, AEI's office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. These hours could vary from week to week and this position may be required to work more or less than 40 hours a week, depending on the fieldwork scheduled. This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
* GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
* Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
* Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
* Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
* Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells).
* Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
* Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.
* Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
1. GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in the following:
a) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum.
2. GS-9: You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree:
a) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc. you cannot qualify based on GPA.

1. Professional knowledge of environmental physical science principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to carry out tasks and provide support using established procedures and methods in assigned.

4. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.

General Description
Join the Groundwater Monitoring Department and gain valuable data collection and fieldwork experience in monitoring a statewide network of wells and springs, including a network of automatic recorders capable of transmitting near real-time water-level data. Learn new skills and gain hands-on experience in hydrogeology and field methods as we collect and disseminate important data towards groundwater management, drought monitoring, and understanding the overall condition of Texas aquifers.
Performs routine (journey-level) hydrogeology work performing groundwater monitoring. Work involves monitoring a statewide network of wells and springs and related data collection. Creates hydrographs, maps, and reports. Works independently, traveling 50% of the time within the state of Texas. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Manager of the Groundwater Monitoring Department.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts statewide inventories on wells and springs, measures water levels in wells and discharge from springs, and collects field measurements and water samples for chemical analysis.
Organizes equipment ahead of field work and plans travel logistics for site visits.
Conducts research on potential well sites from agency databases and other sources.
Establishes and maintains site access through coordination with landowners and other entities.
Enters, proofreads, and corrects data in the agency databases and maintains the databases, paper files, and records.
Provides data and/or replies to public inquiries for groundwater information and assists other TWDB departments as needed.
Demonstrates TWDB monitoring techniques to groundwater conservation districts.
Conducts field work and travel outside of the office for 50 percent of the time within the State of Texas, with approximately two weeks out of the office each month requiring several consecutive overnight stays at a time.
Assists in the analysis and interpretation of water-related data and documents work performed through short reports and analysis papers, including creating maps and hydrographs.
Attends meetings and may engage in TWDB committee activities as necessary.
May assist in the Recorder Well Program as needed to install and repair recorders, transmitters, solar panels, concrete pads, and other associated equipment.
Requires operation of a state vehicle for business purposes, including the ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle in off-road conditions as needed and to maintain a driver's license and driving record that complies with state and agency requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Performs routine (journey-level) hydrogeology work performing groundwater monitoring. Work involves monitoring a statewide network of wells and springs and related data collection. Creates hydrographs, maps, and reports. Works independently, traveling 50% of the time within the state of Texas. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Manager of the Groundwater Monitoring Department.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts statewide inventories on wells and springs, measures water levels in wells and discharge from springs, and collects field measurements and water samples for chemical analysis.
Organizes equipment ahead of field work and plans travel logistics for site visits.
Conducts research on potential well sites from agency databases and other sources.
Establishes and maintains site access through coordination with landowners and other entities.
Enters, proofreads, and corrects data in the agency databases and maintains the databases, paper files, and records.
Provides data and/or replies to public inquiries for groundwater information and assists other TWDB departments as needed.
Demonstrates TWDB monitoring techniques to groundwater conservation districts.
Conducts field work and travel outside of the office for 50 percent of the time within the State of Texas, with approximately two weeks out of the office each month requiring several consecutive overnight stays at a time.
Assists in the analysis and interpretation of water-related data and documents work performed through short reports and analysis papers, including creating maps and hydrographs.
Attends meetings and may engage in TWDB committee activities as necessary.
May assist in the Recorder Well Program as needed to install and repair recorders, transmitters, solar panels, concrete pads, and other associated equipment.
Requires operation of a state vehicle for business purposes, including the ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle in off-road conditions as needed and to maintain a driver's license and driving record that complies with state and agency requirements.
Requires working alone outdoors and in remote locations, including walking over various terrains while carrying field equipment weighing up to as much as 40 lbs. in various weather conditions and pulling cables weighing up to 40 lbs. from deep wells.
Requires work shifts to occasionally exceed 8 hours, including early mornings and late nights.
Assists with maintaining master hard copies and electronic copies of TWDB personnel information, policies, procedures, guidelines, checklists, forms, and reference materials.
Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
Ensures individual and team files (electronic and hard versions) are appropriately maintained and timely disposed of in accordance with the agency's records retention procedures and schedule.
Maintains required certifications and licenses and meets the continuing education needs and requirements of the position to include, attending mandatory training courses.
May be required to operate a state or personal vehicle for business purposes.
Assists with any special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
Must be able and willing to conduct fieldwork and overnight travel 50% of the time throughout the State of Texas (approximately two weeks each month).
Relevant experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geological Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field with emphasis in hydrology, hydrogeology, or water resources.

Position Purpose:
Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement and processing of various waste in various container size/type. Tasks could include: Follow procedures & direction, perform manual labor, proper usage of PPE, operate mobile equipment (manual and powered), operate fixed / stationary equipment, loading & unloading containers, perform equipment inspections, identification of various container size/type, scanning container movements, consolidation of containers & material, staging containers in designated area, recognize markings & labels. Tasks will be performed on a daily basis in the designated processing area as assigned by Leads & Supervisors in order to meet processing objectives for material disposal.
Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
Manage assigned area while maintaining operation efficiencies.
Proficient in all process areas of the department. Has mastered all four components (CSB/ADA, TRB, Bulk Ramp and TSDF) and can work in any area while maintaining operational proficiency.
Lead, direct and coordinate all team member activities to achieve team goals.
Interface with other Lead Material Handlers to achieve team goals
Manage site waste generated in work area.
Create maintenance work orders to insure upkeep of equipment.
Resolves remedial work orders or other environmental concerns and completes closure requirements
Responds to spills as required
Manage leaking boxes in a timely manner, making temporary repairs as necessary.
Provides routine manpower for box storage areas for housekeeping, RCRA, TSCA, and safety related items.
Maintain department housekeeping standards and is responsible for the effective upkeep of all tools, equipment, and facilities.
Interfaces with contractors and internal departments to obtain information, answer questions, and resolve problems and special requests.
Operates forklift, backhoe, rolloff truck, gradall, other heavy equipment and power hand tools.
Assists emergency coordinator in emergencies.
Prepares numerous logs and reports for tracking purposes.
