Job DescriptionJob Title: Class 1 Welder Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $24/hr + $100 per diem We are seeking experienced Class 1 Welders for full-time positions in Jeanerette, LA. This role involves welding aluminum in a ship/boat building environment. Candidates must be proficient in reading blueprints, welding in multiple positions, and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. (40 hours per week)
Potential for overtime on weekdays and weekends
Education or Required Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in the ship/boat building industry welding aluminum
Must be able to read blueprints
Must be able to tack, distribute heat evenly, and lay a clean bead
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Mock Weld Test
Required Skills:
Strong attention to detail to support a high-quality assurance program
Excellent math skills and ability to read a tape measure accurately
Proficient in either fitting or welding aluminum
Ability to repair defective welds
Ability to weld in all positions (uphill, downhill, horizontal, pipe, or flat)
Safe operation of power equipment in compliance with safety standards
Strong work ethic
Ability to operate power tools (grinders, saws, drills, etc.)
Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as needed to perform tasks
