The Position: In the MEP Cost Estimator role, you will work closely with both our clients and our team members. You will be responsible for managing and delivering conceptual estimates, detailed cost estimates, constructability reviews, phasing and logistics analyses, cost reconciliations, and more, focusing on the Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Electrical (MEP) trades. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for precision and customer service. We are looking for positive and skilled individuals who are excited to be part of a dynamic and growing team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our HQ office located in Durham, NC, with occasional travel to client locations. Responsibilities: Perform MEP cost estimates, from conceptual design to detailed construction level documentation Ensure client satisfaction with cost management performance Lead project MEP estimate process from kickoff through completion Assist in establishing MEP scope of work and task hours on a project level Lead MEP estimate development for: indirect costs, escalation/risk contingencies/forecasting, executive summaries, reconciliation, benchmarking, risk analysis, constructability reviews Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors in order to solicit accurate and current pricing of plumbing fixtures and equipment, HVAC equipment, piping & sheet metal material, lighting, distribution equipment, low voltage systems, and miscellaneous material pricing. Perform quantitative takeoff using plans and/or 3D models Lead project risk and pricing analysis Manage MEP estimate QAQC and review process Act as a mentor and assist in the development of team members Qualifications: 4-8 years of construction estimating experience Degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar preferred; a combination of education and work experience will also be considered Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff (or similar take-off software), Bluebeam, Excel, and other Microsoft related software Be a critical-thinker, self-starter, and creative problem solver 35 North offers a competitive benefits package that includes: 401k with 3% employer contribution Cell phone allowance Employer paid life insurance and long-term disability Full medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid time-off and holidays 35 North is an equal opportunity employer.
