Public Health- to teach courses in the areas of Public Health in-person at the Union or Kean Ocean campus. Candidates with a background in epidemiology and biostatistics, holistic health and/or environmental health are preferred.
Recreation - to teach courses in the areas of Recreation Administration/Sport and Event Management or Recreational Therapy in-person at the Union or Kean Ocean campus.
Exercise Science - to teach Exercise Science courses in-person at the Union or Kean Ocean campus. Courses may include Introduction to Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Electrocardiography, Motor Learning, Prescriptive Exercise, Exercise Testing and Interpretation, Strength Fitness, Personal Fitness, Statistic in Exercise Science, Biomechanics and Kinesiology. Possessing a Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C, ACSM) or Personal Trainer Certification (NCSF, ACSM, or NSCA) is preferred.
Yoga and Mindfulness - to teach undergraduate courses in Yoga, Meditation, and Mindfulness in-person at the Union and/or Ocean campus. Courses may include Foundations of Yoga, Mindfulness and Wellbeing, Intro to Yoga, and Yoga Teaching Practicum. Candidates holding national yoga certification (e.g., RYT-200 or RYT-500) from a Yoga Alliance-recognized program and demonstrate significant teaching experience in yoga and/or mindfulness-based practices are preferred. A strong foundation in yoga philosophy, trauma-informed teaching, and embodied practices is preferred. Candidates with experience teaching in higher education, mentoring yoga teacher trainees, or integrating contemplative practices into wellness and health programs are especially encouraged to apply.
All adjunct positions are non-tenure track. They require a master's degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. A doctoral degree in a health-related field is required to teach advanced level courses in this program. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
Adjunct faculty teaching one three (3) or four (4) credit class shall provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. An additional thirty (30) minutes of availability shall be provided for each additional class taught during the semester/session. Availability may be in person or virtual and shall be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, taking into account student needs. Adjunct faculty teaching fewer than three (3) credits shall provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. Regardless of the number of credits an Adjunct faculty member is teaching, they may, at their discretion, provide additional office hours beyond the amounts required.
Kean University Adjuncts are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Effective September 2024, the rate of pay is: $1,975 per credit.
Effective September 2025, the rate of pay is: $2,100 per credit.
Effective September 2026, the rate of pay is: $2,225 per credit.
Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

Counselor Education - to teach introductory, advanced, and doctoral level courses, and field placement courses at the Union or Kean Ocean Campus located in Toms River. All adjunct positions are non-tenure track. Adjunct faculty teaching one three (3) or four (4) credit class shall provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. An additional thirty (30) minutes of availability shall be provided for each additional class taught during the semester/session. Availability may be in person or virtual and shall be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, taking into account student needs. Effective September 2024, the rate of pay is: $1,975 per credit.

Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

Adjunct faculty work under the direction of the Department Chairs, Department Program Coordinators, and the administration of the Division of Humanities, Business, and Social Sciences to facilitate class instruction, evaluate student performance, develop and manage syllabus and course materials, and comply with any Department, Division, or College requirements. Please note: course caps may be up to 40 students.
Adjunct Faculty will be paid $700 per credit hour for this position. Sr. Adjunct Faculty will be paid $750 per credit hour.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public. Adjunct faculty work with our Department Chairs, Coordinators, and Administrative team to ensure successful course delivery for our students.
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Assists college with student outcomes assessment efforts and/or Program assessments if need, by participating in the planning, data collection, and/or reporting as relates to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course focuses on the current issues and trends in business as found in the business media. The course is designed to allow students to explore areas of personal interest through the collection of research and the presentation of such material in written and spoken formats.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adjunct Faculty are instructional personnel whose services are contracted on a semester/term by semester/term basis. The adjunct faculty workload is limited to two course sections per semester/term, unless additional course sections are required to meet the needs of the students and/or College. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Develop and manage syllabus and course materials - selecting and compiling tests, assignments, online discussion exercise that permit measurement of performance relative to standardized learning objectives.
* Facilitate class instruction - administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics. All course grades will be posted on Blackboard Grade Center. Be prepared for class and meet with students on time and as scheduled or if teaching online to be responsive and "present" throughout the semester.
* Comply with department, division, and college requirements - this includes using any required textbooks and online resources for a specific course, using Blackboard Grade Center, and completing required attendance reporting.
* Respond promptly to grade determination - adjunct faculty should submit grades for any assignments, assessments, participation activities, etc. in a timely manner and within the required deadlines.
* Input final grades in web advisor and turn in final grades and attendance records to the Division by the end of semester deadline.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements: Master's degree or above in Business or in related field with at least 18 graduate credits applicable to course content areas.
Experience Requirements: Minimum of three years of practical work experience in the area of conducting business research. Experience teaching using Open Educational Resources (OERs) required; experience with teaching at the college level preferred.

In order to enable Adjunct Faculty to be effective and to meet the requirements associated with relevant teaching conditions, RCBC has outlined 1) appropriate Technology Tools, 2) a minimum level of proficiency with the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and remote delivery, and 3) Webex Videoconferencing resources.
1) Technology Tools
Adjunct Faculty should have access to a computer less than 6 years old and equipped with a webcam and microphone, as well as reliable high-speed internet service.
2) Blackboard LMS
Adjunct Faculty must participate in Blackboard training with a verified level of proficiency in the following two self-paced courses A) 'Getting Started with Blackboard Learn' and B) 'Learn Teaching Essentials for Original'.
3) Webex Videoconferencing
Webex is RCBC's accepted videoconferencing platform and allows for real-time instructor-student interactions and breakout sessions, for example. RCBC has created two interactive workshops, a maximum of one-and-a-half hours long, to address topics of interest to both beginner and advanced users. Recorded sessions will be continuously available for faculty viewing.
Residency Requirement: Rowan College of Burlington County requires applicants to reside in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Delaware in order to be considered for employment as an Adjunct.

Transition to Kean - to teach the Transition to Kean course in-person at the Union campus. This course is an extension of New Student Orientation and is designed to assist students with their transition to college and learn foundational skills. Daytime availability is highly desired.
Transfer Transition - to teach the Transfer Transition course in-person at the Union, Kean Ocean or Brookdale campus. This course is designed to assist students transferring to Kean University. This course focuses on skills such as writing, academic planning, information literacy and research. All adjunct positions are non-tenure track. They require a master's degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
Adjunct faculty teaching one three (3) or four (4) credit class shall provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. An additional thirty (30) minutes of availability shall be provided for each additional class taught during the semester/session. Availability may be in person or virtual and shall be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, taking into account student needs. Adjunct faculty teaching fewer than three (3) credits shall provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. Regardless of the number of credits an Adjunct faculty member is teaching, they may, at their discretion, provide additional office hours beyond the amounts required.
Kean University Adjuncts are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Effective September 2024, the rate of pay is: $1,975 per credit.
Effective September 2025, the rate of pay is: $2,100 per credit.
Effective September 2026, the rate of pay is: $2,225 per credit.
Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.
