This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled, customer-focused technician who thrives in the field. What You'll Do
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on TARGAN's chick sexing equipment during overnight hours.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electro-mechanical systems.
Train hatchery staff on the proper operation and maintenance of TARGAN systems.

What We're Looking For
Electro/Mechanical degree or 1-5 years' technical experience (automation, poultry production, or related fields).

Valid driver's license; able to lift up to 50 lbs and travel daily to customer sites.

Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist in the development of technicians and ensure that major projects in the area have the technical resources to successfully be deployed. The person in this role will also have a position in a service shop and assist that shop with their day-to-day technical needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work with shop managers and technicians on conducting, facilitating and executing training plans, creating plans that are collective but also to fit each Technician's level.
These plans can and should include formalized classroom training as well as on the job (OJT) practical training. The goal of training is to assist our technical team to progress from Apprentice-Journeyman-Senior-System technician.
The STT should consider compliance, industry specific regulations and company specific policies and procedures while creating and maintaining employee training records.
Develop ongoing training standards and minimums to progress from each technical level.
Review technician knowledge to ensure the standards are met for advancement.
Provide feedback to the technician supervisor on the technician's status with meeting the standards.
Assist with scheduling and conduct OJT training.
Conduct senior technician meetings to discuss technical topics.

Education and/or Experience:

Three to five years' experience in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems theory. Able to use computer and program, troubleshoot, perform diagnostics, and repair complex communication systems.
Experience in diagnostics, repair, maintenance, program wireless communication equipment such as 2-way radios, transmitters, receivers, antennas for customers.
Experienced with dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, and trunked radio systems. Knowledge of radio repair, mobile installations, DC, AC, and RF Theory as it applies to wireless communications.

Calls start at $35 and go up based on distance traveled
Pay period: Every Friday after the first week worked
Tickets are run Monday-Friday during the day shift. Candidates must be regularly available a minimum of 3 weekdays to be considered.
Call volume is variable but is usually 1-3 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.

Required Experience & Skills
Associate degree in Electro/Mechanical Systems or related curriculum and/or a bachelor's degree in poultry science or related field from an accredited institution
1-5 years of related experience
Effective communication and customer service skills are necessary to interact directly with multiple levels of customer personnel and internal TARGAN team members
Proven mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting ability - The ability to look at an entire process and determine the source of the problem/issue
Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and initiative
Strong organizational skills
Self-motivator and self-starter
Ability to learn, produce, and submit accurate service and expense reports promptly
Ability to understand and follow blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical & pneumatic drawings and schematics
Master the use of a variety of common power and hand tools
Proficient in the use of a laptop computer, tablet, and related software
Must be able to work safely and efficiently and follow all safety/precautionary procedures
Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record
Working Conditions
The majority of work is done in a commercial poultry hatchery where exposure to a potentially hazardous environment is possible
Heat and humidity above average are common
Available for on-call/after-hours work beyond a standard 40-hour work week to respond to customer emergency calls (via telephone, video, and face-to-face)
Lift more than 50 pounds
Daily travel during hatchery operating days, with remote support the rest of the week
Occasional travel to TARGAN headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina for training

Responsibilities
Monitor process to ensure efficiency and reliability
Work with both our South Salem and Keizer locations to ensure proper staffing.
Test to check systems and components are secure and working properly
Isolate the systems or components that might have caused the problem
Drive the vehicle for testing purposes and inspect and refill fluid levels as necessary
Ensure tire pressure for proper inflation, clean and lubricate fittings as needed
Install a new oil drain plug and new oil filter and communicate oil levels to teammates
Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles
Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle's breakdown or damage
Use power tools, machine tools, and common hand tools to perform various tasks
Service and installation of brake, alignment, and suspension system parts and components
Qualifications
6 months- 1 year of prior tire and alignment experience
Deep understanding of automobiles and speedy diagnostic abilities
Effective analytical and communication skills and eagerness to improve
Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
High School Diploma or GED (required)
ASE Certification/Technical degree (preferred)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Pay range for this position starts at $17.00 per hour. Pay rate is based on experience.
