Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance within highly active companies
Strong financial modeling, valuation, 3-statement modeling, and analytical skills.
Proven solid experience in FP&A, M&A transactions, capital raises, and strategic initiatives.
CFA designation is a strong plus.

About the Role:
The Energy Group is seeking a Houston-based, qualified, motivated investment banking Analyst. Prior investment banking or similar professional experience within the upstream, midstream, downstream and/or energy infrastructure industry is required; some technical upstream or midstream and LNG experience is preferred.
As a cross-product industry team, Analysts in the Oil & Gas and Energy Infrastructure Group work on a variety of transactions, including M&A, A&D, corporate valuation, board advisory and capital raises. Analysts typically function as members of deal teams comprising a Managing Director, Director - Vice President, Associate, and Financial Analyst, plus technical professionals.
Analysts are assigned to a variety of projects and are given a broad range of responsibilities, some of which include:
* Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
* Conduct and model a broad range of corporate finance alternatives and due diligence for client transactions including M&A, strategic alternatives, capital structure development, acquisition finance and syndicated loan and capital market financing

Manage the real-time operations of NRG's asset portfolio, including dispatching generation based upon economic conditions and operational constraints, developing load forecasts, tracking real time load, as applicable, performing retail load portfolio optimization, and purchasing or selling energy and capacity as needed.
Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures.
Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown times, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and day-ahead traders
As Real-Time Operations Dispatcher, have the responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.
Communicate with Balancing Authorities, Reliability Coordinators, Transmission Operators and ISO on continual basis, taking necessary actions and providing ancillary services to ensure system reliability.
Must comply with applicable NERC Reliability Standards and regional ISO rules and tariffs.
Monitor and analyze available market information to identify dispatching and trading opportunities
Manage dispatching and trading decisions with a continuous focus on balancing risk versus return to produce maximum profitability.
Analyze and evaluate energy transactions to ensure that all relevant aspects including energy price, transmission, counter party, and contractual terms are compliant with NRG's Risk Management Policy.
Must complete necessary NERC or ISO certification and continuing education requirements as applicable
