FOOD SERVICE SUBSTITUTE
The job of the cook provides for the nutrition services of students at the assigned site and must meet the mandated nutritional needs of students. The position requires cooking and preparing large quantities of food items for all Nutrition Services programs including but not limited to Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and Suppers that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel; verifying quantities and specifications of orders; maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition; ensuring availability of quantities of items; providing written support to convey information; and complying with mandated health requirements. Substitutes must be available to work on a regular basis and be willing to work in various locations throughout the District. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Eating, Drinking and Smoking
Food worker may not eat, drink, or use any type of tobacco in foodpreparation areas. This is to prevent spills onto food and to reduce the chance of contamination.
Exception: Food workers may drink form a covered container with a straw. The drink must be stored so that it cannot spill onto food or food-contact surfaces.
Hair Restraints
Hair restraints are intended to keep hands out of hair and hair out of food. Hair must be effectively restrained whenever you are working around food or foodpreparation areas. Hair restraints include hairnets, hats, barbette, ponytail holders, and tight braids. Long beards must also be restrained.
Fingernails
Fingernails must be trimmed so they are easy to clean. If nail polish or artificial nails are worn, the food worker must wear gloves when preparing all foods, not just ready-to-eat foods. For example, a food worker with artificial nails would need to wear gloves when mixing batter with a spoon.
Jewelry
Jewelry can hide germs that cause foodborne illness and make it hard to wash hands. Jewelry can also fall into food. While preparingfood, food workers must remove watches, rings, bracelets, and all other jewelry on the arms or hands.
Exception: Wedding rings may be worn if they are covered with a glove when the food worker is preparingfood.
Personal Items
Personal items like medicine, coats, and purses must be stored away from food, dishes, and linens.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a seasonal full time/hitch-based position. Members will be required to camp with the crew 24/7 for the duration of the session, alternating 10-day camping hitches followed by 4 days off. Crew members will have 4 days off at the end of each 10-day camping hitch.
Typical workdays are 8 hours between 7am-5:30pm and vary due to weather, IFPL levels, training needs, etc. There will be other required camp chores before and after these work hours.
Crew members receive a 30-minute lunch and at least three breaks each day.
You will have camping/all meals provided during training and working.
This is an immersive camping position, making time away from the crew not usually possible (unless approved in advance).
