As part of our multidisciplinary project teams, you will have an important role providing substantial coordination efforts with existing and new clients to ensure their environmental compliance needs are met; writing technical analyses for CEQA, NEPA, and other technical documents; assisting in project management; and working as part of our team to solve an array of water and environmental issues critical to California's environmental, water, and energy landscape. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Assist in managing, planning, and implementing environmental compliance projects in urban and remote areas throughout California but focused in the Sacramento Valley and Bay Area. Expected responsibilities include: Compile, maintain, and distribute all project permits and authorizations, and required protection and mitigation measures, and prepare environmental compliance plans. Track and maintain detailed project construction schedule. Schedule, organize and/or conduct environmental and other resource awareness training programs for project construction staff. Schedule biologists and coordinate required resource-specific preconstruction surveys (e.g., for nesting birds) and specialty monitors (e.g., cultural resource specialists, qualified biologists, qualified stormwater practitioners), as well as meetings with regulatory agency monitors. Conduct routine environmental inspections of active project work areas to ensure environmental compliance, including on-site safety and compliance meetings with construction crews and/or regulatory agencies. Manage data collection, ensuring data quality, and generate weekly, monthly, and annual summary reports. Communicate regularly and clearly with project management, client, and regulatory agency staff to troubleshoot compliance issues, discuss project variances, and provide updates. Prepare technical studies, environmental documents, and permit applications, and coordination with various federal, state, and local agencies. Responsibilities may include: Lead and/or coordinate biological resource surveys, and prepare technical reports. Prepare and process of permit applications for Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, and/or California Fish and Game 1600; Support Federal and State Endangered Species Act consultations; Prepare technical sections of CEQA/NEPA documents; and/or Represent clients in meetings and phone calls with regulatory agencies; Actively participate in multi-disciplinary teamwork with biologists, planners, landscape architects, restoration ecologists, and engineers. Implement and reinforce safety precautions at all project work locations. Perform other duties as required and that advance your skill-set and environmental career. Minimum Qualifications BA, BS, MA, or MS in Environmental Studies, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Biology, or related natural or physical sciences from an accredited college or university. At least 7 years of relevant experience. At least 5 of these years in construction monitoring and worker environmental awareness training is preferred. Knowledge and expertise in federal and State environmental regulations. Outstanding problem-solving, organization, coordination, writing, people, and verbal communication skills. Solid work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams. Strong writing skills, including experience writing biological technical studies, permit applications, and sections for CEQA/NEPA compliance documents. **A writing assessment will be required, or substituted with applicable writing samples.** Valid California driver's license, excellent driving record, and reliable vehicle. Physical ability to work and stand outside for long periods. Training in conducting surveys/monitoring of special-status species. We are GEI. California Rare Plant identification skills Experience with field data collection tools such as Collector, Trimble units, and others. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work extended hours in diverse and challenging weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
