POSITION OVERVIEW
We seek to grow the number of outstanding educators in our schools through the Baker Teaching Fellowship program, named after KIPP Jacksonville's founding board chairman, John D. Baker II. The Fellowship provides focused development, support, and structure to individuals launching a career in urban public education. This program is ideal for those graduating from an education preparation program, an alternative certification program, or for those who have passed a Florida subject area certification exam.
Under the direction of our fellowship manager and school leaders, fellows are placed as co-teachers during their fellowship year and are certified teachers in our classrooms. As certified educators, fellows are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
The Fellowship model allows fellows to co-teach in their fellowship year with a gradual release model. Fellows are placed strategically in one grade level and have meaningful 'at-bats' at instructional practices, whole and small group instruction, and managing a classroom. Fellows take on additional responsibilities as the year progresses. Fellows are supported as both individuals and as a cohort through frequent coaching and professional development sessions.
The aim of the program is for a fellow to be promoted to a lead teacher position the following school year. Placement is dependent on certification and identified openings. The initial grade level placement of a fellow does not have to dictate where their lead teacher offer can come from. Fellows have the ability to preference grade levels for their fellowship year and future roles. We do not guarantee grade level placements at the time of offers.

Our current starting salary for a Teaching Fellow is $47,500. Upon successful completion of the program and an offer of a first-year Lead Teacher position, the salary increases to $50,000

Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
We seek to grow the number of outstanding educators in our schools through the Baker Teaching Fellowship program, named after KIPP Jacksonville's founding board chairman, John D. Baker II. The Fellowship provides focused development, support, and structure to individuals launching a career in urban public education. This program is ideal for those graduating from an education preparation program, an alternative certification program, or for those who have passed a Florida subject area certification exam.
Under the direction of our fellowship manager and school leaders, fellows are placed as co-teachers during their fellowship year and are certified teachers in our classrooms. As certified educators, fellows are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
The Fellowship model allows fellows to co-teach in their fellowship year with a gradual release model. Fellows are placed strategically in one grade level and have meaningful ‘at-bats' at instructional practices, whole and small group instruction, and managing a classroom. Fellows take on additional responsibilities as the year progresses. Fellows are supported as both individuals and as a cohort through frequent coaching and professional development sessions.
The aim of the program is for a fellow to be promoted to a lead teacher position the following school year. Placement is dependent on certification and identified openings. The initial grade level placement of a fellow does not have to dictate where their lead teacher offer can come from. Fellows have the ability to preference grade levels for their fellowship year and future roles. We do not guarantee grade level placements at the time of offers.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our current starting salary for a Teaching Fellow is $47,500. Upon successful completion of the program and an offer of a first-year Lead Teacher position, the salary increases to $50,000

Required:
Status as a doctoral student who has passed all aspects of the comprehensive exams by the time you apply.

One or more semesters of instructional experience (in any discipline) in which you were responsible for creating class sessions (e.g., as autonomous instructor or as TA for a recitation or lab section); designing learning activities; and providing substantive feedback on student work.
Interest in helping faculty and graduate students learn more about teaching.

Participates in the design, execution, analysis, and evaluation of research projects directly aligned with the educational goals of the student and the Oceanographic Center

Essential Job Functions:
1. Contributes to basic and applied research activities. Performs a variety of tests, makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
2. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
3. May participate in the publication of significant results.
4. Advances expertise through education, training, and/or research experience.
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
2. Database and data entry skills.
3. Ability to utilize or learn to utilize software relevant to the research program, new research methods and, work routines quickly.
4. Ability to attain required certification for applicable research program or project.
5. Ability to read and comprehend reports and other scientific literature.
6. Ability to safely and effectively handle small boats.
7. Ability to learn underwater benthic survey methodologies
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) issued
Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card (only required for
boat operators who were born on or after January 1, 1988 as per State
of Florida Law).
2. SCUBA certification.
3. AAUS certification.
4. Driver's license.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required: Biology or related science
Required Experience: 1. Six (6) months experience working in a laboratory or scientific research environment.
2. Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCG AUX) Boating Safety course.
