The Office of Undergraduate Admission (OUA) seeks to hire a Graduate Intern (GI) to assist with the strategic development, management, and assessment of the on Grounds visit experience for prospective and admitted students and their families. The OUA welcomes over 60,000 visitors annually for daily tours/information sessions and hosts 6 open houses throughout the year. The GI will work closely with OUA staff, OUA student interns, UVA faculty and staff, and alumni to ensure our visitors experience a welcoming, informative, and fun visit to UVA as they consider their college options.
The field of undergraduate admission offers a window into the wider, dynamic world of modern higher education administration. GIs should expect and experience that helps them cultivate leadership, organizational, and public speaking skills. GIs will advise prospective students and applicants on the admission process, work closely with High School Counselors and Community Based Organization leaders to create visit opportunities for students from underserved backgrounds, and coordinate large scale admitted student programs.
With oversight from a professional OUA team member, GAs will:
Manage OUA's student intern team
Oversee daily tour/information session visits
Plan and execute open house programs
Coordinate group tours
Support OUA Dean of the Day
Hours of work would generally be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in addition to approximately 3 Saturdays per semester.
The successful GI candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic about supporting recruitment efforts and will enjoy working as part of a team. The individual will be well organized and open to constructive feedback.
Position Compensation: $16.00 Hourly

Strength In Peers' Lion's PRIDE (Peer Recovery Internship for Development & Empowerment) program is a structured, hands-on learning experience for individuals who want to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in Virginia. Interns complete 500 hours of supervised professional experience required to qualify for the certification exam. Through mentorship, real-world practice, and professional development, interns learn to engage peers with empathy, connect them to community resources, and model hope and resilience through lived experience.
Interns will rotate through Strength In Peers' peer-led recovery services, community resource centers, homeless medical respite house, jail-based support groups, and mobile harm reduction program to experience a variety of professional settings. Interns will also develop an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) where they will select trainings and experiences that align with their professional interests and goals, such as working in crisis services, supporting youth and families, or strengthening their computer skills.
At Strength In Peers, recovery grows in communityour pride. This program builds confidence, competence, and compassion on the path to becoming a CPRS and working in the helping professions.

Cleaning and general sanitation of all BOH areas daily with the other members of the culinary team.
Externs will be given responsibilities within their capabilities. The more skills an individual can become proficient in, with coaching and instruction from their supervisor, the larger the scope of their work and the broader the capacity of their experience.
Based on performance and the discretion of the Chefs, externs will be able to work multiple stations such as butchery, pasta making, employee meal, daily production, breakfast cookery, and potentially working service with the PM brigade. For pastry this may include tasks such as chocolate work, lamination/bread production, viennoiserie, tea service, cake decorating and potentially PM service.
Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
Enrollment in culinary school or culinary education equivalent.
Fundamental skills in all basic cooking techniques and execution of knife cuts.
A growing sense of flavor development, and ability to season foods properly as demonstrated by sous chefs.
Servsafe certification.
Desirable
Previous culinary experience.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.

The goal of STEP is to create pathways for people seeking to gain experience with a conservation focused organization. We currently offer paid internships in a range of disciplines across our Virginia Teams. All STEP interns will attend an orientation, professional development webinars, and one group field trip. Along the way, interns will have the opportunity to broaden their experiences through interactions with The Nature Conservancy staff and partners. At the end of their internship, STEP interns will give a short presentation about their time at TNC to the Virginia staff. This position will close on February 15, 2026, at midnight. Zoom interviews will occur in early March with final hiring decisions made by March 31.
Schedule: 35 hours/week for 10 weeks from May 30 - August 9, 2026
Orientation: All interns are required to attend a two-day orientation in Charlottesville on May 28-29, 2026

We're Looking for You:
Virginia Marketing and Communications is looking for an intern to continue the work of our Lands and Lives project that started in 2022. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications for Virginia, this person will research selected places where TNC works in the state, helping enhance our understanding of the experiences of Indigenous peoples, African Americans, and other communities and voices important to these protected area. Collaborating with the team, the Land & Lives intern will have the opportunity to identify one or more personally meaningful topics to develop, from conducting initial research to crafting a bylined piece (or pieces) suitable for TNC channels or external media. The intern will gain exposure to all facets of our marketing and communications work- from social media to earned media to storytelling-and may assist with other general marketing tasks.
This position is research and storytelling focused, with the goal of more deeply understanding the histories and communities of and near TNC landscapes, and sharing stories that more deeply engage diverse audiences. The work developed will be appropriate for channels such as our website, e-newsletter, StoryMaps or external media. During research-related field trips, photo and video capture may also be needed to support story development.
The Intern will also engage in information gathering/social media posts on fellow conservation interns in the Virginia cohort, which may include scheduling and leading short interviews and capturing images/video of other interns and their summer experiences.
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule and encourages travel to TNC sites as it related to research being conducted.
All interns will dedicate 5% of their time to professional development activities through STEP.
Main responsibilities include:
Conducting research to identify/enrich stories about people's lives, past or present, in selected places where we work
Collecting and organizing resources (documents, photos, etc.) uncovered during research
Capture photo/video related to story development
Helping integrate Lands and Lives throughout our marketing and communications portfolio
Conduct interviews and gather information/photos/video of fellow interns and their summer experiences in Virginia
Supporting the marketing and communications team with occasional general marketing tasks and/or events during the summer season
