Our brand new facility opened in the northwest suburbs of Chicago in October of 2023, staffed with a team focused on a productive collaborative culture between all of our specialties. Our location just outside of Chicago provides a diverse caseload from the entire Chicagoland area. Our interns will have primary case responsibilities along with working with different specialists and our staff ER doctors with increasing primary case responsibility as the year progresses. The emphasis will be on developing well rounded doctors with finely tuned diagnostic and treatment abilities who are well suited for future emergency, urgent care and general practice positions, as well as specialty residency or internship. Our interns will rotate primarily through Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology and Surgery. The intern will spend about 50% of the time on the emergency service and interns are paired on overnight ER shifts with a senior clinician. Other elective rotations or amount of time spent on other specialties can be customized based on interns goals. Case rounds occur twice daily in hospital led by the ECC team and other specialties. There will also be weekly didactic rounds including journal club, topic rounds, or wet labs. The weekly schedule will generally include 4 longer shifts when on emergency and on ECC. Most other rotations will be 5 shifts / week. We have full in house laboratory capabilities, 1.5 tesla MRI, 64 slice CT, 5 surgical suites including one orthopedic suite with C-arm capabilities, intensive care ventilator and high flow capabilities available in hospital. The Recreation Department is responsible for a variety of programs, facilities, services, and special events in the community. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, this unique opportunity will offer the intern a chance to work closely with our recreation supervisors and facility managers, learn about program/facility management and administration and work on projects within our recreation department. The areas of focus include: Athletics, Before and After School Care, Summer Camp, Dance, Aquatics, Fitness Center Operations, Mini-Golf and Peck Farm Park. The Recreation Intern should be an energetic student who is enthusiastic about the field of parks and recreation, creative, mature and eager to learn. This unpaid internship is ideal for college students or recent graduates pursuing a career in zoology, animal science, or a related field. Why Join Us? As a Zoo Intern, you'll work alongside experienced keepers to learn the daily operations of a zoo, including animal care, husbandry, enrichment, and guest interaction. You'll also complete meaningful projects, like animal behavior research, that help you build professional skills for your future career. What You'll Do: Assist keepers with daily animal care, including feeding and cleaning Help prepare diets and monitor animal behavior Create enrichment activities to support animal well-being Assist with light maintenance and construction projects Support educational presentations and special events for zoo guests Keep accurate records and follow all safety protocols Represent the Dundee Township Park District in a professional and positive manner Complete an animal behavior research project and final zoo project What You Bring: Current college student or recent graduate (within 2 years) in Zoology or related field At least 2 years of undergraduate coursework preferred Valid driver's license required Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Strong communication skills and professionalism when working with guests and staff Problem-solving ability and composure in high-stress or emergency situations Spanish-speaking skills a plus! Schedule: This seasonal internship requires 250 hours over 10-12 weeks. Interns must select a set shift for the full duration of the program. Shifts include: 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
