In Thousand Oaks, the Automated Screening Platforms/ High-Throughput Assays group in the Lead Discovery & Targeted Protein Degradation organization is seeking a temporary contract worker for a laboratory based on-site role to provide assay reagent preparation for screening assay delivery. The desired team member will primarily contribute to a high demand for routine cell culture (expansion, banking and quality-control) of various mammalian cell lines. Responsibilities will also include collaborating with robotic platform operators to execute high-throughput cell-based & biochemical assays, in support of small molecule therapeutic discovery research pipeline & platform projects. Additional tasks include general laboratory maintenance activities such as preparing media & buffers, ordering/ stocking reagents & consumables. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in user experience research, work closely with our Senior UX Researcher, and contribute to the development of UX research strategies. The ideal candidate will be passionate about understanding user behavior and improving user experiences through insightful research. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Conduct moderated usability tests to evaluate user interactions with our products. Analyze user data from third-party tools to identify trends and insights. Assist the Senior UX Researcher in developing and implementing UX strategies. Collaborate with internal product managers (PMs) and UX designers to ensure research findings are integrated into product development. Help prepare and present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Support various UX research activities, including user interviews, surveys, and heuristic evaluations. Maintain detailed documentation of research methodologies, findings, and recommendations. WHAT YOU BRING Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Design, or a related field. Basic understanding of UX research methods and usability testing. Proficiency in using UX research tools and software (e.g., User Testing, Optimal Workshop, etc.). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience or coursework in UX research. Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or similar). Knowledge of UX design principles and processes. Reports to Dr. Dominique Griffon, Associate Dean for Research, College of Veterinary Medicine. The Research Assistant provides technical support for scientific research by the mentor as assigned. Assist in planning, ordering, and monitoring supplies for assigned projects Collect and process samples Conduct the experiment and collect data, under supervision of the PI Prepare inventories of samples and monitor storage conditions Participate in scholarly writing Participate in the laboratory training of veterinary and undergraduate students in the PI's lab Required Qualifications A minimum of bachelor's degree in the life sciences. Research lab experience and knowledge of fundamental laboratory techniques is required.
