Responsibilities

The CDU HIV Research Pillar and Drew Center for AIDS Research, Education, and Services (Drew CARES) have a vibrant track record of HIV-related research, training, and service delivery.
In collaboration with the Urban Health Institute, the CDU HIV Research Pillar and Drew CARES seek to recruit two faculty members for appointment at the academic rank of Assistant-to-Full Professor. Faculty rank will be determined based on experience and review of dossier material submitted. Recruited faculty members will have opportunities for research collaboration and mentorship with the new UCLA-CDU Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). The CFAR mission is to stop HIV in Los Angeles County and beyond by engaging diverse researchers with multidisciplinary perspectives.
The University is seeking investigators whose work combines HIV prevention, treatment, and/or health services research with any one or more of the following areas: substance use disorders, mental health, trauma, clinical informatics, hepatitis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, or mobile technologies. COMPENSATION
All GraduateAssistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $3,090 to $5,783 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,800
The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

The ResearchAssistant reports to the Chief of Research and Director of Case Management, and is a member of the Care4 administration team with primary responsibilities for compiling and cleaning data and tracking measurables across the organization. Essential Duties:
Coordinate all Care4 training and technical assistance
Participate in training and professional development related to organizational data needs
Communicate with Chief of Research and Development Team to discuss and understand data needs
Import and export and aggregate participant and program data across the organization
Export, compile, and send regular reports to program leads based on Care4 data entry
Verify organizational services and participant data and develop an understanding of available historical data
Support in monitoring and supporting accurate organizational data
Understand and maintain confidentiality of data sources
Update existing Care4 database and working excel sheets as needed
Sort and organize data to review accuracy; clean data as needed
Administer, analyze, and report survey results, including quarterly Case Management Surveys and other surveys as needed
Assist in the export, cleaning, and sending data or reports for government grants
Act as the point of contact for external researchers requesting to do research at Homeboy Industries
Communicate with necessary staff/participants regarding research requests
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
B.A., Statistics/Mathematics, Social Work, or Psychology preferred but not required
Some experience in Research and/or Data is helpful
Detail-oriented person with strong work ethic; organized and problem solver; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available
Experience working with individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other standard computer applications
Experience with data analysis programs, such as SPSS, STATA, or R is a plus
Good working knowledge of databases, data compilation, and cleaning
Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
Some understanding of IRB processes and protection of research participants
Fast typing, excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills
Ability to handle multiple assignments, follows instructions, and work independently while keeping supervisor informed

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Typical activities of GraduateAssistants may include: (1) assisting in the instruction of students by conducting small discussion groups related to large lecture, supervising laboratory periods, workshops, or other course activities, assisting by handling equipment, performing demonstrations, maintaining office hours to provide direct individual contact between student and graduateassistant, clarifying course material or course content for students; (2) providing assistance to faculty conducting authorized research by collecting and arranging data, developing source materials, summarizing reports, searching the literature and compiling bibliographies, developing and operating research equipment, preparing and caring for research materials, assisting in the conduct of experiments, etc.; and/or (3) generally assisting faculty in evaluating student work and examinations; preparing course materials and aids, or performing other functions requiring knowledge and background beyond that generally possessed by undergraduate assistants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Abilities
: Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in which assigned. Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment; ability to supervise, assist, and train students; and ability to assist faculty in the conduct of special projects/research within the discipline.
Experience
: For the initial appointment, evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. For subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.
Education
: Equivalent to completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree and registration in a CSU graduate degree program. Students enrolled in credential programs are not eligible for this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BA Degree in hand by time of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments at CSUSB, with 26 full-time and 26 part-time faculty, approximately 100 graduate students, and 1400 undergraduate students. The department offers one undergraduate major in Psychology with three formal concentrations - General Psychology, Biological Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In addition, the department houses three master's programs: Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Psychological Science, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. We offer the entire undergraduate major at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.
