DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is a seasonal job that is currently budgeted for 17 pay periods (34 weeks) per fiscal year. These seasonal positions are critical to ensuring that maintenance areas have the workforce required to maintain the facilities in their region during the busiest months of the year. Access area maintenance is critical to ensuring that accesses and ramps are safe for public use. Additionally, this position will allow for crews of two, ensuring that no one works alone and that everyone is able to safely complete the tasks assigned to them, such as mowing access areas and dam breasts. Work includes but is not limited to installing docks, installing signage, weed eating, litter pickup, and making minor maintenance repairs on dams and spillways. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal, full-time employment (March through November) This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. The HVAC Helper plays an important role in supporting quality workmanship and timely completion of HVAC installation projects for Ames Mechanical. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Assist the HVAC Foreman with the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, furnaces, air handlers, condensing units, piping, and related components. Support jobsite setup, material staging, and equipment preparation. Measure, cut, assemble, and install HVAC materials under supervision. Help install duct systems, hangers, grilles, registers, and equipment supports. Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite safety procedures. Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under direction. Assist with equipment setting, fastening, sealing, and insulation. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Communicate effectively with the HVAC Foreman and crew regarding task progress and material needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by the HVAC Foreman or supervisor. Qualifications Associate Degree in HVAC & Refrigeration Technology preferred. Prior construction or mechanical experience preferred. Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding work. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure. Mechanical aptitude and interest in HVAC installation work. Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented. Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR background check required).
