Job Summary: Arizona Clinical Trials is searching for a qualified candidate for the Research Advanced Practice Provider position in Flagstaff, AZ. Successful candidates are currently licensed Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) who have previous experience in clinical research and gastroenterology (GI) and/or hepatology with a high understanding of research protocol and what it means to be a sub investigator for a clinical trial. The Research APP plays a crucial role in driving and expanding the organization's ability to provide innovative patient care. Title: Research Advanced Practice Provider - Flagstaff Status: Full-time, Exempt Salary: $110,000 - $160,000 per year; depending on experience and qualifications Please note: the top 10k of the salary range is reserved for experienced APPs with proven Specialty and Clinical Research experience in Hepatology and Gastroenterology. Location: Flagstaff, AZ (Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm, On-site) Reports to: VP, Clinical Operations Essential job functions/duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Responsible for performing patient evaluations, consults, and review of pretreatment for standard of care patients as well clinical research patients. Educating patients on therapeutic options through available liver clinical trials onsite. Performs specialized procedure(s) and works with MD on patient diagnosis. Counseling patients and their families, as well as collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for physician's assistants or nurse practitioners. Primary point of contact and assumes responsibilities for managing the care for patients. Oversee patient care in clinical trials and perform safety medical reviews. Work with various research staff members such as clinical research coordinators and research recruiters to complete visits and submit accurate source documentation. Completes detailed review of documentation for studies, charting, and proper informed consents. Communicate with research team members regarding studies and fully understand the protocols. Takes study and a patient from first visit to closeout. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required At least one (1) year experience working in a clinic or hospital setting as an NP or PA Previous experience in clinical research with a high level of understanding of research processes and protocols (preferred) Proficient in use of Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive as well as practice's EMR system (eCW) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to identify issues with “quietly unhappy” patients. Refers patients appropriately. Demonstrates awareness of quality-of-care metrics and regularly meets them Solid interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good working relationships with peers, coworkers, and patients. Ability to provide patient care with minimal supervision. Ability to perform in-clinic procedures (such as fibroscans) independently. Autonomous in call-rotation. Ability to diagnose and make treatment decisions for patients. Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred. Ability to problem solve with systems and processes. Committed to self-study and learning new skills to enhance work performance Great leadership skills required with ability to mentor clinical research team on standard operating procedures and best practices. Commitment to earning additional certifications/professional titles outside scope of work. Ability to resourceful and consults resources before asking others for instruction Diagnoses and manage clinically complex patients with minimal assistance Previous outpatient hepatology/gastroenterology experience as an NP or a PA highly preferred. Experience in completing fibroscans for patients highly preferred. Education and/or credentials and trainings required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program from an accredited institution Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with current RN and NP License or Graduate of a university program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education (ARCE) for the Physician Assistant with certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), license to practice in Arizona Must maintain certifications as required by department or division Completion of GCP and IATA trainings at hire.
